Diese einst so stolze Festung, war zu ihrer Blütezeit die größte Burg in ganz Ostbayern. Durch Misswirtschaft ist sie heute nur noch ein Schatten ihrer selbst.
Allerdings wird jetzt Mithilfe von Archäologen und einem gemeinnützigen Verein die Burg nicht nur erhalten, sondern zum Teil wieder aufgebaut.
This once proud fortress, was in its heyday the largest castle in all of Eastern Bavaria. Through mismanagement it is now only a shadow of itself.
However, now the help of archaeologists and a non-profit association will not only get the castle, but partially rebuilt.

Ich bin zurückgekehrt in den schönsten, sonnigen Herbst in meiner Gegend. Ich liebe die Erntezeit, wenn die Winzer in den Weinbergen beschäftigt sind und die Obsternte in vollem Gange ist. Selbst ein leichter Herbstwind weht die reifen Nüsse von den Bäumen und Starenschwärme ziehen umher.
Eine fröhliche Jahreszeit.
Es ist besonders schön, durch diesen bunten Herbst zu wandern und hier und da ein Schwätzchen mit den Weinbauern zu halten..

Caimans are calm. 90 percent of their lives, they are lazy in the Sun or still waiting to pounce. Crocodiles remain perfectly camouflaged, often spending hours in the water. Only the eyes and nose sticking out.
Caïmans sont calmes. 90 pour cent de leur vie, ils sont paresseux au soleil, ou encore en attente à bondir. Crocodiles restent parfaitement camouflés, souvent passer des heures dans l'eau. Seulement les yeux et le nez qui sort.
Kaimane sind die Ruhe selbst. 90 Prozent ihres Lebens liegen sie faul in der Sonne oder still auf der Lauer. Perfekt getarnt, verharren Krokodile oft stundenlang im Wasser. Nur Augen und Nase schauen heraus.
Der Wind hat selbst die Laternen gebogen!

On this side road I get to my favorite spots for morning moods. Sometimes the street itself is the subject, as in this picture a month ago.
Auf dieser Nebenstraße gelange ich zu meinen bevorzugten Stellen für Morgenstimmungen. Manchmal ist die Straße selbst das Motiv wie auf diesem Bild vor gut einem Monat.

A place I love so much, especially in Winter.
Formed by sometimes strong west winds, these some hundred years old beech trees brave even strong winters.
I like snowshoeing up to them, they are more easily to reach.
If the sun is shining, I love it to touch their trunks and feel the warmth of the bark, although the branches are covered with snow
and it is very cold....
From my Archives, we are waiting for the 'real' snow to come.

Ein Ort, den ich liebe und besonders im Winter gerne aufsuche.
Geformt vom manchmal strengen Westwind, diese einige hundert Jahre alten Rotbuchen (wir nennen sie Windbuchen) trotzen selbst strengen Wintern.
Gerne wandere ich mit Schneeschuhen zu ihnen hinauf, es ist leichter.
Wenn sie von der Sonne beshienen sind, liebe ich es, ihre Stämme zu berühren und die erstaunliche Wärme ihrer Rinde zu spüren,
obwohl es sehr kalt ist.
Aus meinem Artchiv, wir warten noch auf den 'richtigen'Schnee oben im
Schwarzwald.

Einseitige Beziehung
The common ivy is a very special plant, which often lives in a close symbiosis with trees. The evergreen and poisonous climbing plant can grow up to 450 years old.
The heart-shaped leaves are the origin of the heart symbol.
Der Gemeine Efeu ist eine ganz besondere Pflanze, die oft in einer engen Symbiose mit Bäumen lebt und wenn der Baum stirbt auch fast immer selbst zu Grunde geht. Dabei kann das immergrüne, giftige Rankgewächs bis zu 450 Jahre alt werden.
Die herzförmigen Blätter sind der Ursprung des Herzsymbols.

This photo of a sunrise on mt. kleiner Winterberg in the Elbe Sandstone mountains needs no further words. This magical atmosphere speaks for itself.
That's why I'm using the moment to say goodbye to you. I won't be home for the next three weeks. Since it's not a holiday, I don't know yet if I'll have the opportunity to make photos. If I can make it possible, I will finish the photos on my laptop, which of course severely limits my options. So forgive me if I have to compromise on frequency and quality. It's only three weeks.
Dieses Foto von einem Sonnenaufgang auf dem kleinen Winterberg im Elbsandsteingebirge bedarf keiner weiteren Worte. Diese magische Atmosphäre spricht für sich selbst.
Deshalb nutze ich den Moment um mich bei Euch zu verabschieden. Ich werde die nächsten drei Wochen nicht zu Hause sein. Da es kein Urlaub ist, weiß ich noch nicht, ob ich die Gelegenheit zum Fotografieren haben werde. Sollte ich es möglich machen können, werde ich die Fotos auf meinem Laptop fertig stellen, was dann natürlich meine Möglichkeiten stark limitiert. Also seht es mir nach, wenn ich an der Häufigkeit und der Qualität Abstriche machen muss. Sind ja nur drei Wochen.

The butterfly reach a wingspan of 22 to 27 millimeters. Unlike most other blues, both sexes are colored the same. Their fore wing tops are orange-red in color and have a wide, dark brown outer edge (margin band). Several dark cube spots are visible near this edge. The hind wings are dark brown in color and have an orange band just below the outer edge. The edge itself is wavy brown in color and, like the forewings, lightly fringed. The underside of the forewings is colored similarly to the upper side, but the brown is replaced by a grey-brown and their coloring is duller. The underside of the hind wings is brown-grey with small black spots and a fine orange-spotted band near the outer edge.[1]
The caterpillars are about 15 millimeters long. They are usually green in color, but sometimes reddish with a red dorsal line and similarly colored substigmatal lines. However, these can also be missing.[1] The caterpillar's head is brownish green and retracted into the body.[2].
Die Falter erreichen eine Flügelspannweite von 22 bis 27 Millimetern. Im Gegensatz zu den meisten anderen Blautönen sind beide Geschlechter gleich gefärbt. Ihre Vorderflügeloberseiten sind orangerot gefärbt und haben einen breiten, dunkelbraunen Außenrand (Saumband). In der Nähe dieses Randes sind mehrere dunkle Würfelflecken sichtbar. Die Hinterflügel sind dunkelbraun gefärbt und haben knapp unterhalb des Außenrandes ein orangefarbenes Band. Der Rand selbst ist wellig braun gefärbt und wie die Vorderflügel leicht gesäumt. Die Unterseite der Vorderflügel ist ähnlich gefärbt wie die Oberseite, allerdings ist das Braun durch ein Graubraun ersetzt und ihre Färbung ist stumpfer. Die Unterseite der Hinterflügel ist braungrau mit kleinen schwarzen Flecken und einem feinen orangefarbenen Fleckband am äußeren Rand.[1]
Die Raupen sind etwa 15 Millimeter lang. Sie haben normalerweise eine grüne Farbe, manchmal aber auch eine rötliche Farbe mit einer roten Rückenlinie und ähnlich gefärbten Substigmatallinien. Diese können jedoch auch fehlen.[1] Der Kopf der Raupe ist bräunlichgrün und in den Körper eingezogen.[2]

This term is ocupied much to negativ in my opinion. Sure, even in this photo, when I was waiting for the sunrise, everything seems to be a bit gloomy and the bright colours are all missing. Blue notes are influenzing everthing and giving the scenery a special mood. But blues doesn't have to be bad per se and more of this it doesn't have to be something, we need to be fear for. Its telling us to hold and to give more attention more to ourselves. That way it will be much easier to see the streak of light at the horizon what is assuring us, sun will rise again today as well.
Ich finde, dass dieser Begriff eindeutig zu negativ belegt ist. Sicher, auch hier auf diesem Foto, als ich auf den Sonnenaufgang wartete, erscheint alles noch etwas düster und es fehlen die leuchtenden Farben. Die blauen Noten mischen sich in alles ein und verleihen dieser Szene eine besondere Stimmung. Blues muss nicht per se etwas schlechtes sein und vor allem nichts, vor dem wir Angst haben müssen. Er fordert uns auf innezuhalten und uns selbst mehr Aufmerksamkeit zu schenken. Dadurch wird es leichter, den Lichtstreif am Horizont zu finden, der uns die Gewissheit bringt, auch heute wird die Sonne wieder aufgehen.

I also decorated this rose with a few water drops (this time with a few more). I know that wouldn't have been necessary because she looks beautiful even without it, which you will be able to judge for yourself in a week.

Auch diese Rose habe ich mit ein paar Wassertropfen verziert (dieses Mal mit ein paar mehr). Ich weiß, das wäre nicht nötig gewesen, denn sie sieht auch ohne schon wunderschön aus, was Ihr in einer Woche selbst beurteilen könnt.
Doch ich wollte das unbedingt, denn ich liebe diese Lebendigkeit und Frische, die durch die Wassertropfen entstehen.

Zur Zeit des Sonnenuntergangs wirkte der Ausflugsort an der Mosel besonders malerisch. Die Sonne selbst war wegen der Moselberge nicht mehr sichtbar, so dass nur noch indirektes Licht über dem Ort lag (06.07.2016, 21:35 Uhr)
At the time of sunset the excursion on the Moselle had a particularly picturesque. The sun itself was no longer visible because of the Moselle mountains , so that only indirect light above the place was (July 6, 2016)

But it's just sand, Baltic Sea sand. The announced snowstorm has spared Berlin, and all that we have at the moment is a strong wind from the east and a light snow dance. When I flipped through my photo back catalogue, I stumbled upon the "Usedom 2013" folder and realised that the images I'd taken during a short trip to the Baltic Sea island Usedom back in 2013 weren't that bad at all... Usedom, a beautiful place with long beaches, impressive high coasts, and famous sea spas, is also humorously referred to as "the Berliners' bathing tub", because the Baltic Sea (and its islands) is only a few hours (by regional train) away from Berlin and has therefore always been a favourite holiday amd excursion destination.
The images were taken with my very first MFT camera, the tiny Pen E-PL3. Back then, I'd been shooting JPG only, and I thought that this nice- but also a little dull-looking image (it had been overcast most of the days we'd spent there) would benefit from some extra sliding :) HSS, everyone, stay safe and warm :)

Aber es ist natürlich bloß Sand, Ostseesand, während der für dieses Wochenende angekündigte Schneesturm kurzerhand beschlossen hat, einen Bogen um Berlin zu machen. Beim Durchstöbern meines Fotoarchivs bin ich auf den Ordner "Usedom 2013" gestoßen und habe festgestellt, dass die Fotos von diesem Kurztrip auf die schöne Ostseeinsel vor fast acht Jahren gar nicht so schlecht sind wie gedacht. Usedom wird ja scherzhaft auch als "Berliner Badewanne" bezeichnet, weil die Ostsee inklusive ihrer Inseln selbst mit der lahmen Regionalbahn schnell zu erreichen ist; auch wenn wir uns damals, in der Woche vor Pfingsten, mit diversen Jugendgruppen in den üblichen drei Wagen quasi stapeln durften, denn warum sollte man auch einen zusätzlichen Wagen anhängen, auch wenn mehr Fahrkarten als üblich verkauft werden. DB-Logik...
Aufgenommen mit meiner ersten MFT-Kamera, der winzigen Pen E-PL3, als JPG (damals hatte ich mich an RAW noch nicht herangetraut); gestern habe ich dann bei der Neubearbeitung noch ordentlich in die digitale Filterkiste gegriffen :) Ich wünsche Euch einen schönen Rest-Sonntag und einen guten Wochenstart!

Diese Mittelmeermöwe wurde vor einigen Jahren in Zagreb beringt.
Sie ist nicht ständig in Bremen, aber mindestens ein Mal im Jahr besucht sie uns.
Das künstlerische Werk von Lucia Kempkes (*1988) umfasst Zeichnungen, Skulpturen und Videoarbeiten, aber auch spezielle Techniken wie das Knüpfen von Teppichen. Sie erforscht die Eigenschaften unterschiedlichster Materialien wie Teppich, Steinpapier und Goretex-Folie und verwandelt selbst den Ausstellungsraum in eine Landschaft.
Das Detail auf dem Foto ist ein Teil eines Patchwork-Teppichs aus Steinpapier aus der Serie „To Protect Us From What We Seek“. Die Serie thematisiert, wie die ständige Weiterentwicklung von Hightech-Materialien und Werkzeugen zur Überwindung menschlicher Grenzen mit der Wahrnehmung von Landschaft korreliert.

I don't know whether the exact 55/34-formula applies to this capitulum - it does to most sunflowers, and the sunchoke is a member of the Helianthus family; but like most spiral forms found in nature, it is based on the famous Fibonacci sequence (and as far as formulas, sequences and such are involved, I'd happily entrust you to Wikipedia, because all the math stuff has always been way beyond me 😉 ) Isn't it fascinating how many spirals we find in nature? From the tiniest shapes found in shells, snail shells, flowers and cones, to the most huge ones, the galaxies - and all of them are perfect logarithmic structures. This natural spiral definitely is on the smaller side, the capitulum (I hope it's the correct term) of this sunroot is just 1,7 cm / 0,67 inches in diameter. This is a focus stack composed of 52 images, combined in Helicon Focus, method B (radius 14, smoothing 7). I have an image of another blossom from this sunchoke bouquet which I liked a little better, because that capitulum had more green in it, but the spiral here is nicer
and also much better defined, so I've decided to add this to the MM photo pool despite it being a little too "all over yellow".

Ist es nicht erstaunlich, wo sich in der Natur überall Spiralformen finden lassen? Angefangen bei winzigen Schnecken- oder Muschelgehäusen, Zapfen (Tannen-, Fichten- usw.) aller Art, Blumen... bis hin zu riesigen Spiralgalaxien, zu denen auch unsere Heimatgalaxie, die Milchstraße gehört. Die meisten in der Natur vorkommenden Spiralen sind als Fibonacci-Folge angeordnet, so auch der Blütenkorb dieser Topinambur-Blüte. Diese Art der "Blütenspirale" kann man selbst bei Gänseblümchen finden. Ich hatte hier noch eine weitere Version von einer anderen Blüte, die zu dem schönen Topinambur-Strauß, der zurzeit mein Wohnzimmer schmückt, gehört, die mir an sich besser gefallen hat, weil mehr Grün darin war, aber hier kommt die Spirale besser zur Geltung, weshalb nun dieses Foto die offizielle MM-Version geworden ist - selbst wenn es ein wenig sehr (eigentlich fast ausschließlich) Gelb ist.
Dies ist wieder ein Fokus-Stack aus 52 Einzelfotos und zusammengefügt in Helicon Focus (Methode B, Radius 14, Glättung 7).

The story that can be seen in the picture here could begin like this or something similar. How it goes on after that is once again left to your own imagination, which, as is well known, knows no bounds.
A few scenarios come to mind if I let the scene sink in. But I don't want to anticipate you and instead encourage you to be creative and complete the story yourself. Let's see if anyone dares.

So oder so ähnlich könnte die Geschichte beginnen, die hier auf dem Bild zu sehen ist. Wie es danach weiter geht, ist wieder einmal eine Frage Eurer eigenen Fantasie überlassen, die ja bekanntlich keine Grenzen kennt.
Mir kommen schon ein paar Szenarien in den Sinn, wenn ich die etwas auf mich wirken lasse. Doch möchte ich Euch nicht vorgreifen und Euch stattdessen auffordern selbst kreativ zu sein und die Geschichte zu vollenden. Mal sehen, ob sich jemand traut.

I can't say how often I was standing on the other side of this scenery already, shooting mt. Lilienstein, where I am standing now, behind the Bastei Bridge. On the right side of the frame, almost in the middle, you can probably see a small white dot. This could be me, because this is my favourite spot when I am there.
It was even more fascinating to go into this perpective. It was like I would watch myself making photos from the distance. Somehow surreal.
Unfortunately the Bastei bridge is almost not visible from this position. Only a small part is peeking out between the rocks in the middle.
Ich kann garnicht sagen, wie oft ich schon auf der anderen Seite dieser Szene stand und den Lilienstein, auf dem ich gerade stehe, hinter der Basteibrücke fotografiert habe. Auf der rechten Seite des Bildes, fast in der Mitte, ist ein kleiner weisser Punkt zu sehen. Das könnte ich sein, denn das ist mein Lieblingsplatz, wenn ich dort bin.
Umso aufregender war es für mich diese Perspektive einzunehmen. Als würde ich mich selbst aus der Ferne beim Fotografieren beobachten. Irgendwie surreal.
Die Basteibrücke ist von hier leider kaum zu sehen. Lediglich ein kleines Stück lugt in der Mitte durch die Felsen hindurch.

Der Beetzsee ist ein eiszeitlicher Rinnensee im westlichen Land Brandenburg. Er erstreckt sich 18 km. Der See selbst gehört vollständig zum Gebiet der Stadt Brandenburg an der Havel.
The Beetzlake is a lake in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated to the north and east of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. The lake is 22 kilometres (14 mi) long, and has a maximum depth of 9 metres (30 ft), with an average depth of 3 metres (9.8 ft).
I only found out about this place when I looked out if there was anything interesting on my route during a day trip.
Lo and behold, this was shown to me and I was interested enough to stop here.
Now a little quiz question for you. What is so special about this landscape in Tuscany?
Basically it doesn't look much different here than in the whole area. Green fields cover rolling hills, here and there one of the typical farmhouses stands and cypresses grow along the roads and paths.
Now the solution for everyone (probably not many anymore) who didn't recognize it themselves.
This is one of the original filming locations from the famous 2000 movie Gladiator.
Here you can see the path that leads to the house of the protagonist Maximus.
In the film, however, the hills are covered in corn and the protagonist (Russel Crowe) dismounts his horse and wanders through the fields, gently running a hand over ripe corn.
At least for me, who loves this film, that definitely makes this place special.
Von diesem Ort habe ich erst erfahren, als ich mich bei einer Tagestour darüber informiert habe, ob irgend etwas interessantes auf meiner Strecke liegt.
Und siehe da, mir wurde das hier angezeigt und ich war interessiert genug hier auch Halt zu machen.
Nun eine kleine Quizfrage, an Euch. Was ist an dieser Landschaft in der Toskana so besonders ?
Im Grund sieht es hier ja nicht viel anders aus, als in der ganzen Gegend. Grüne Felder bedecken sanfte Hügel, hier und da steht eins der typischen Farmhäuser und an den Strassen und Wegen wachsen Zypressen.
Nun die Auflösung für alle (sind wahrscheinlich nicht mehr viele) die es nicht selbst erkannt haben.
Dies ist einer der Originaldrehorte aus dem berühtem Film Gladiator aus dem Jahr 2000.
Man sieht hier den Weg, der zum Haus des Protagonisten Maximus führt.
Im Film sind die Hügel allerdings mit Getreide bedeckt und der Hauptdarsteller (Russel Crowe) steigt vom Pferd und wandert durch die Felder, während er eine Hand sanft über reifen Ähren gleiten lässt.
Zumindest für mich, der diesen Film liebt, macht das diesen Ort definitiv zu einem Besonderen.

Eine Grubenlampe ist eine Leuchte, die bei der Arbeit unter Tage eingesetzt wird. Jeder Bergmann hat seine „persönliche“ Grubenlampe. Nach der Schicht ist der Bergmann dafür verantwortlich, dass er üblicherweise selbst die Grubenlampe ordnungsgemäß zum Wiederaufladen in der Lampenstube in den beschrifteten Stellplatz in der Ladestation einsetzt, damit er zur nächsten Schicht wieder eine vollgeladene Grubenlampe zur Verfügung hat. This is the base of a green glass bottle that once contained white wine and now is a vase. I often keep beautiful bottles, big or small, just because they look nice. I use them as decorative objects, as colour filters for tabletop photography, or as vases. And when I saw this bottle, I bought it specifically because it looked so nice (hoping that the content would be nice as well – it was), and with the intention of turning it into a vase. There's a glasser around my corner who has cut off the necks of quite a few bottles for me, as the DIY methods you can find on YouTube seemed too unsafe for me to do it myself. When I turned the bottle upside down, I noticed the really interesting-looking circular pattern at the base consisting of many tiny indendations. I've experimented with light from different positions, and backlit (with a hint of red light slightly from the front / above) brought out the patterns best.
There's also a bit of an optical illusion here, because the whole bottle base is convex (as to be expected), and the circle at the centre is a convex shape of its own, even though in the final image it looks concave, sort of bulging. And with those two extra, almost V-shaped indentations at the centre it reminded me of a reptile's eye staring right at me ;)
The "V" shape at the centre is 0,5 cm / 0,19 inches long, and the circle itself has a diameter of 2,5 cm / 0,98 inches. It's a single shot processed in DXO PhotoLab 5, with further tweaks in Analog Efex (vignette, Vintage Camera 5), and in Color Efex (Brilliance & Warmth, Detail Extractor, Photo Stylizer).

Schau mir in die Augen, Kleines? Nun, warum nicht. Denn weder hat Humphrey Bogart das tatsächlich so gesagt noch ist Kaa böse, obwohl er in den Disney-Verfilmungen des Dschungelbuchs so dargestellt wird. Und eigentlich ist das der sehr harmlose Flaschenboden einer ehemaligen Weißweinflasche, die nun als Vase fungiert. Ich hebe oft schöne Flaschen auf, egal welcher Größe, die ich als Deko-Objekt, als Vase oder auch manchmal als Farbfilter für Fotos verwende. Bei dieser besonders schönen Flasche, die ich schon mit dem Gedanken, daraus eine Vase zu machen, gekauft hatte, hat mir der Glaser um die Ecke den Flaschenhals abgeschnitten, damit ein ganzer Strauß Blumen darin Platz findet und nicht nur eine einzelne Blume. Ich weiß, dass es auf YouTube jede Menge DIY-Anleitungen gibt, die mir aber alle zu unsicher sind, um das selbst zu machen. Jetzt habe ich beim großen Fluss aber DIY-Sets entdeckt, die ich mir mal genauer ansehen werde ;)
Die Flasche an sich hätte für ein Makro nicht viel hergegeben, als ich sie aber umdrehte, fiel mir am nach innen gewölbten Boden ein interessantes kreisförmiges Muster, bestehend aus vielen winzigen Einkerbungen, auf. Und das habe ich mir dann durch das Makroobjektiv mal genauer angesehen. Das Resultat erinnert mich ein wenig an ein Reptilienauge, besonders mit den beiden länglichen (vorgewölbten) Einkerbungen in der Mitte. Dass der innere Kreis nochmals deutlich nach innen gewölbt ist, aber wie ein Auge konkav wirkt, ist eine optische Täuschung (wie sie bei solchen Formen häufig vorkommt, finde ich). Das Foto ist eine Einzelaufnahme, hauptsächlich von hinten beleuchtet, mit etwas rotem Licht leicht von vorne / oben für extra Akzente.

Die Geschichte einer bösen Tat erzählen die sehr kleinen Taroc-Karten. Sie erzählt wie das Gut das Böse verdrängt,
die Karten lesen sich von links nach rechts, liebe Freunde.
Ein mächtiger böser Nachbar der heimtückisch seinen „Bruder“ überfällt weil dieser sein Leben selbst bestimmen will.
Es erzählt wie der kleinere und nicht so mächtige Nachbar, sich wehrt und… große Unterstützung von vielen Nachbarn, die in dem riesengroßen Land das Kontinent genannt wird, große Unterstützung erfährt.
Eine Geschichte die leider noch nicht zu Ende erzählt werden kann, weil sie noch offen ist. Wird der böse Nachbar einlenken und die Geschichte findet ein gutes und friedliches ENDE. Wir hoffen es.

The very small Taroc cards tell the story of an evil deed.
A powerful, evil neighbour who insidiously attacks his "brother" because he wants to determine his own life.
It tells how the smaller and not so powerful neighbour fights back and... receives great support from many neighbours in the huge country called the continent.
A story that unfortunately cannot be finished yet because it is still open. Will the evil neighbour give in and the story find a good and peaceful END. We hope so.

Elle raconte comment le bien supplante le mal,
les cartes se lisent de gauche à droite, chers amis.
Les très petites cartes Taroc racontent l'histoire d'un acte malveillant.
Un voisin puissant et malveillant qui attaque sournoisement son "frère" parce que celui-ci veut décider lui-même de sa vie.
Elle raconte comment le voisin plus petit et moins puissant se défend et... reçoit un grand soutien de la part de nombreux voisins, dans l'immense pays qu'on appelle le continent.
Une histoire qui ne peut malheureusement pas encore être racontée jusqu'au bout, car elle est encore ouverte. Le méchant voisin cédera-t-il et l'histoire connaîtra-t-elle une FIN heureuse et pacifique ? Nous l'espérons.
