The Kugelbake is a wooden historic navigation aid where the river Elbe flows into the North Sea, it marks the "legal end" of the Elbe river and stands 29.63m tall.
It is also an important touristic venue in Cuxhaven, as can easily be seen in the picture.

Shetlands / Scotland
Bressay Lighthouse in the Shetland Islands, Scotland, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south-east of Lerwick. It is located on the island of Bressay at Kirkabister Ness overlooking Bressay Sound.
The lighthouse was used until 2012.
Passing the ‘Bressa Light’ is the start and finishing post for any journey to or from Shetland by sea, and is a welcome landmark for locals and visitors alike.

MYANMAR, Burma - rund um den Inle-See, die Phaung-Daw-Oo (U) -Pagode
Die Pagode liegt am Westufer des Inle-Sees in der Nähe der Stadt Ywama. Das moderne Hauptgebäude hat einen quadratischen Grundriss und ein dreistufiges Dach mit Erkern an den Ecken und in den Seitenmitten des Quadrats, was den Übergang in den achteckigen Dachaufbau einleitet, der wiederum von einem achteckigen Stupa samt Hti gekrönt wird.
In einer von schlanken goldglänzenden Pfeilern getragenen hohen Halle steht ein Baldachin mit dem Altar für fünf Buddha-Statuen aus dem 12. Jahrhundert, um die sich viele Legenden und eine dicke Schicht Gold gebildet haben. Die Form der Figuren ist kaum noch zu erkennen; unzählige Schichten Blattgold, von Gläubigen im Laufe der Zeit aufgebracht, haben sie in unförmige Goldklumpen verwandelt.
Die neueste Legende hat ihren Ursprung in einem Unglück bei der alljährlich im September oder Oktober stattfindenden Schiffsprozession: als im Jahr 1965 die Königsbarke mit den fünf Buddhas kenterte, fielen sie ins Wasser und konnten in dem flachen See auch schnell wieder aufgefunden werden – bis auf eine, die scheinbar verschwunden war. Als man die vier wieder gefundenen Statuen nach Phaung Daw U zurückbrachte, hatte der verloren geglaubte fünfte Buddha den Weg an seinen Platz auf dem Altar bereits wieder zurückgelegt. Seit dieser Zeit gehen nur noch die vier weniger wunderlichen Buddhas auf die Festreise um den See. Ein Seezeichen markiert die Unglücksstelle.
In unmittelbarer Nähe der Pagode steht die Garage für die Königsbarke.

The modern main building has a square plan and a three-tiered roof with bay windows at the corners and in the middle of the sides of the square, which introduces the transition into the octagonal roof structure, which in turn is crowned by an octagonal stupa and hti.
In a high hall supported by slender golden pillars stands a canopy with the altar for five 12th-century Buddha statues, around which many legends and a thick layer of gold have developed. The shape of the figures is barely recognizable; countless layers of gold leaf applied by believers over time have turned them into misshapen nuggets.
The latest legend has its origins in an accident during the ship procession that takes place every year in September or October: when the royal barge with the five Buddhas capsized in 1965, they fell into the water and were quickly found again in the shallow lake - except for one , which seemed to have disappeared. When the four found statues were brought back to Phaung Daw U, the fifth Buddha, believed lost, had already made it back to its place on the altar. Since that time, only the four less whimsical Buddhas go on the festival journey around the lake. A navigation mark marks the scene of the accident.
In the immediate vicinity of the pagoda is the garage for the royal barque.

Der Pointe du Millier ist für mich schon seit langem ein ganz besonderer Ort, den ich in jedem Bretagneurlaub besuche. Am allerliebsten bei so strahlend schönem Wetter wie in diesem Jahr! Das Haus in exponierter Lage ist ein Leuchtturm und leider nicht mehr bewohnt von einem Leuchtturmwärter. Der Blick geht auf die Bucht von Douarnenez und am Horizont auf die Halbinsel Crozon. Da möchte man doch einziehen, oder?
