One of the things Wanaka, a town on the South Island of New Zealand, is most famous for is the Wanaka Tree. Basically, it’s a tree that is growing directly out of the lake, seemingly just there with no problem at all. On our trip round the South Island earlier in the year, we visited Wanaka during the middle of a very dull day. No colourful sky, and even the colour of the leaves on the tree was hard to distinguish. I decided to ignore the lack of colour, and focus on the structure of the scene instead. A colourful 'Wanaka Tree' shot will have to wait until another visit...

This seemingly abandoned or neglected old stately home was spotted on a country road in Durham, Connecticut and shot with the Olympus E-M1.

THE VERY OLD ONE SINGS:

there is not more in little

nor is there less

grows rich from touchability

and equal to everything

With nettles seemingly covered in Peacock larvae wherever you look this summer, we should be expecting a bumper year! This fresh beauty appeared on our garden corn cockle butterfly bed just before the month of June was out! (6308)

A lone Juniper tree atop the overlook of Monument Basin. The view is breathtaking. The way life can find a way out of seemingly baren sandstone is moving. The White Rim Road is easily seen below. This 100 mile loop around the Basin is a popular and moderately difficult experience for high-clearance 4-wheel drive vehicles.

Seemingly you can never have enough outhouses... Foxy may need a nose clip there!!

A rainbow seemingly sitting on top of the dam wall at the end of Loch Glascarnoch on the Inverness-Ullapool road. The buildings in front of the dam are those of the Aultguish Inn - or, as my son commented, the Anguish Inn if the dam leaks!

With its seemingly never ending pollen supply, no wonder bees love goldenrod.

Thank you so much for viewing this image and for leaving me a comment! Have a great day!

Having spotted Tommy Turtle seemingly stranded upon a lily-pad after heavy rains in the 'Glades, Al E. Gator decided to assist a fellow creature by scooping Tommy into his mouth to carry him to dry land.

Unfortunately for Tommy Turtle, Al E. Gator was apparently allergic to the Lily; and all it took was one sneeze from Al to bring the ride (and Tommy's life) to a crashing halt.

These teeny, seemingly fragile, very beautiful little Rosemary flowers are on a little plant in a 4" pot in the greenhouse. Is at max 1:1 magnification and also taken in aps-c, so effectively 1.5x, but with a 1.0 d.o.f. and a bit of a crop thrown in.

They were pretty awkward to photograph - I took some photos first and then uploaded in order to get an idea of what they were like, which didn't really help that much as even with the 20x was difficult to tell what was what on these pretty complex flowers, then I took a lot of various little flowers and angles but only a couple worth keeping. A bit hit and miss to say the least :^)

Seemingly, a paired Wood ducks. Could be brother and sister, who knows?

Thank you for looking!

This old church, seemingly abandoned, was the Palmer Methodist Church according to the sign on the building. Surprisingly, the bell was still in the tower. There is no other information regarding the historical building, as there are only 449 residents in Palmer, according to a recent census. None of the 449 were seen.

Palmer is near one of the last large mines in the Upper Peninsula, the soon-to-be-deactivated Empire Mine,

DELIGHTFUL and often confiding little bird with a proportionately very long tail and seemingly an almost spherical body. The long-tailed Tit is often seen in rather animated flocks; it moves in a rather jerky fashion and has acrobatic feeding habits, which is so entertaining to watch, one of my favorite birds, captured through the kitchen window on a very wet day, hence the 1/30 shutter speed on a I.S.O of 1250.

"GODs BEAUTY is SIMPLY AMAZING !"

In my years on the lake, I have noted with some amusement how the herons watch me approach only to inevitably fly off the moment I raise my camera. So it is with all the wildlife around here (probably because they have never really become accustomed to humans) so when I actually find something willing to pose, however briefly, it is a moment of simple and unexpected pleasure.

So it was with this young heron who I watched prowl the banks for some time, seemingly unperturbed, as I drifted near...of course, without my camera.

The next day, I returned to the spot, hoping against hope that I might find him again. I was sitting in the canoe scanning the shoreline when a significant fluttering occurred over my head and looking back I saw him perched on a dead tree not 10 feet away. He proceeded to glide down to the shore and began his hunt, me, this time camera at the ready, snapping away. One of the real joys of an event like this is the instant affinity and kinship one feels when another species deigns to share an otherwise private moment. Special indeed.

I liked his pose in this one and it's worth a click on the magnifier I think.

Fairly small, boldly patterned diving duck that lives a seemingly dangerous life near fast-moving water and jagged rocks. Male is striking and unmistakable. Female is dark brown with small white patches on face; compare with female scoters but note smaller size and smaller bill of Harlequin. In summer, almost invariably seen in pairs on rocky streams where they breed. Gathers in small flocks on rocky coastlines in winter. Feeds on insects, fish, and aquatic invertebrates. Frequently dives underwater. Vocalizations are cute, high-pitched squeaks. In North America, more numerous in the west than in the east; also occurs in eastern Asia and Iceland. (eBird)

----------------

My first sighting of a male Harlequin Duck in full breeding plumage! We often get one female or immature male in Ottawa for the winter, but never one this beautiful! There is also an immature male in this group. His plumage is similar, but not yet as colourful. No females were seen.

A resident babbler in our country known for its sweet song unlike the coarse calls of other babblers. Just like its cousins they are social and mostly seen in small groups of 2 - 6. I heard their calls the other day - loud and sweet and then sighted maybe 4 of them. They were on top of the bushes seemingly enjoying the bright sun and cool breeze. They were not bothered by our presence and we had a good time watching their play.

... seemingly, out of the blue ...

Seemingly secluded from the rest of the world, this lowermost but typical side valley of the Simmental is welcoming place. The Diemtigtal valley is a 16km-long oasis of wilderness and pristine beauty.

I am not certain, but I believe these birds are Diamond Doves, which are native to Australia. One bird was on the nest, while its mate was in a seemingly protective stance keeping a close eye on the photographer. These birds were photographed early this year at the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, in Key West, Florida.

Seemingly heading for no where in particular, this road grabbed my imagination, and it was all I could do to resist the temptation to light out to wherever it might take me. Maybe some other time.

This seemingly semi abstract looking image was actually on the river bank at Barley. I could only assume that after the river had flooded, it had eroded part of a tree and left this wonderful design as the water level dropped

Somehow, the seemingly endless chaos of Nature’s

hammock can intrigue and inspire. And bring Peace

to one’s spirit. As opposed to the chaos of politics,

the forces of change, violence in the streets and

attempts to rob freedom and peace from our spirit.

Yardbirds.

Hopefully political chaos will bring peace and

Holy Light will shine through again.

This gull picked up a seemingly live small Dogfish from just above the water line at the famous iron structure called the diamond it then flew down to the sea and just dropped it into the water . I suspect that is one very lucky Dogfish and one very grumpy gull The huge Structure known as the Diamond finally toppled into the sea on the 3rd of November 2019 .

While male Red-winged blackbirds dominate the area, I have taken advantage of their seemingly aggressive presence. These two did not choose to kickbox. (first comment)

Soon they'll head north. At least that's been my experience. About as shot.

A small little swallow that is mostly flying around. The birds are just out of their breeding season and hence there are good numbers now. They tend to congregate together and we saw several making slow flight over the fields seemingly enjoying the breeze.

The birds grab insects while flying - something we noticed happening in front of us too. But couldn't get a shot of since the breeze picked up shortly thereafter.

This is what greets you when you reach the top of the stone stairway from yesterday's lake view. You'll note three manmade objects inviting closer inspection seemingly randomly placed in the middle of the woods and certainly stimulating thoughts of "why?" Remember, this is a significant distance from what is now the main estate and clearly not used for years.

These 2 trees look to me as if they are slowly dying?
