As per my research, I believe it dates from around the 1940s/1950s.
This bronze statue on the University of Oklahoma's South Oval symbolizes the first OU President, David Ross Boyd. The Seed Sower now symbolizes not only the seeds of knowledge and opportunity, but also the seeds of history and tradition.
