As I often add...I listen to music while creating the art that I do.

May the eyes, the ears and the soul...dance.

This is the top floor of the "Blackwell building" on Hythe Bridge Street. One of many modern buildings in Oxford. Snapped in a moment of recklessness with Grahame2008's camera.

The east section of Aucklands Symonds Street Cemetery Is looking neglected but it is a quiet enclave with good walking trail.

The east side of Symonds Street Cemetery was the Anglican and Weslyan burial grounds.

The early cemetery was segmented into four sections by religious denomination - Anglican, Catholic, Jewish, and Presbyterian with other general religious backgrounds.

In 1905 the Cemetery was closed and given to Auckland City Council as a public park.

It is estimated by Heritage New Zealand that less than a quarter of the around 10,000 graves in the cemetery have grave markers and most of them are in a state of failure.

WHAT IS EXPLORE?

"Explore is a Flickr feature with the intent of showing you 'some of the most awesome photos on Flickr.' Photos are automatically selected by computer according to a secret algorithm called Interestingness. The top 500 photos ranked by Interestingness are shown in Explore.

Flickr has stated that many factors go into calculating Interestingness: a photo's tags, how many groups the photo is in, views, favorites, where click-throughs are coming from, who comments on a photo and when, and more. The velocity of any of those components is a key factor. For example, getting 20 comments in an hour counts much higher than getting 20 comments in a week.

Is Explore a showcase for the top Flickr photographers? No. It's for photo viewers, not the photographers. It exists so that, at any moment, anyone who wants to view interesting photos can go to Explore and have a reasonable chance of seeing something interesting.

Does that imply that photographs not in Explore are uninteresting? Of course not. Many wonderful photos are uploaded to Flickr each day not selected for Explore. But, to serve its purpose, Explore only includes a small sampling of all of the photos on Flickr, showing photos from many different people to create a diverse selection."

A southbound coal load rolls through the area immediately surrounding the Portage Section house. From here to MP 30 is inaccessible except by rail. The area is one of the toughest to maintain on the Alaska Railroad.

A section of the Teesta river with Rangit river intersecting from left.Teesta River (or Tista River) is a 315 km (196 mi) long river that rises in the eastern Himalayas, flows through the Indian states of West Bengal and Sikkim through Bangladesh and enters the Bay of Bengal. It drains an area of 12,540 km2 (4,840 sq mi). It forms the border between Sikkim and West Bengal. In India, it flows through the cities of Rangpo, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Mekhliganj. It joins the Jamuna River at Fulchhari in Bangladesh. Pl view zoomed in.

A Burlington Northern Ford F800 section truck is parked next to a stack of rail near the depot at Oregon, IL on August 22, 2009. Pretty amazing that this orange BN truck lasted so long into the BNSF era.

The sections of the Appalachian Trail near Roanoke,Va are fantastic! This is where I find my serenity! Been a long week at work, hope to catch up by tomorrow!

And oh boy, was it ever tasty!

This section of the Theodosian Wall in Istanbul has been restored. The Fifth Military Gate with its heptagonal tower sits on a rise and one can imagine the route of the road that led to the gate.

Throughout history the monuments in Istanbul have exerted considerable influence on the development of architecture, monumental arts and the organization of space, both in Europe and the Near East. The 6,650 meter terrestrial wall of Theodosius II with its second line of defence, created in 447, is one special example and was one of the leading references for military architecture across Europe in the subsequent centuries.

The historic areas of central Istanbul including this Theodosian Wall are World Heritage listed by UNESCO.

One of the choices we made while in Istanbul was to walk the length of the wall from the Sea of Marmara cost to the Golden Horn, photographing as we went. It was a memorable day.

It's been a while since I ventured down the cut.....

The Stour Valley and the BCN run pretty much arrow straight, within a few feet of each other for the section between Tipton and Albion. Here, a Cross country Voyager approaches Watery Lane (Tipton) with 1M45 1050 Paignton to Manchester Piccadilly.

This was a handheld shot but I remember pausing my stride long enough to capture this shot to account for the slow shutter speed.

The PowerShot S120's six bladed leaf shutter/aperture gives the street light sources 6 "star points" as you can see in this picture. You won't get this natural effect with cellphone cameras as their lenses don't have multiple aperture blades.

If this had been taken with a cellphone, the street lamps would appear as a somewhat oblong shaped halo instead of star pointed light source.
