I do like gardening. At the moment I’m contemplating starting a vegetable patch though most of my attention is focussed on a potted Ficus Microcarpa Hillii, commonly known as the Hills Fig. When I first came across the the pot, it looked like a dead trunk with a twist of twigs branching out from it. I looked closer and noticed that it was attempting to sprout new younger leaves. I wasn’t sure if it was too late but I’ve been watering it daily to see what would happen.
And today, small sprouting leaves are appearing in greater numbers on the tree. It’s turned a corner and what were dead twigs are transforming into small branches with flexibility as life returns to them. I moved the pot out from under the garage to an area of full sun today so it can get some warmth and light during the day as the season moves towards winter. I hope it will continue to do well and start providing shade in a couple of months.
