After what was probably one of the biggest adventures of Paige's life so far, Disney's Magic Kingdom on Wednesday, we decided to give SeaWorld a go on Thursday. An exhausted Paige hadn't fully rested yet however, and the foul side of her mood was unleashed right from the start. We decided that once she got there that she'd like it and we forged ahead.
It was raining when we woke up, and continued to rain all day (did I mention that it's the rainy season here?). When we got to SeaWorld, we decided that it'd be a good idea to stay dry, so we headed for a shop to purchase ponchos. In the meantime Paige was running around with an umbrella bumping into every other park patron, and narrowly missing the eyes of other youngsters. This meant a fair share of scoldings, which put Paige into an even worse mood.
Paige doesn't have a sense of what is "wet" and why it matters, so the poncho didn't go over well with her at all either. She moaned and complained non-stop until finally Marna and I just gave up, took off the poncho, and let her get wet. Things were a little better then, but by that point Paige was eager to return to the room, and mom and dad felt the same.
We did manage to get in a few attractions to include Shamu, which kept Paige happy for a good amount of time, and the "Wild Arctic" attraction. The sheer size of a walrus swimming right in front of Paige made her a little nervous, and the growl of a polar bear downright made her run away. We also walked briefly through the Budweiser exhibit and saw the mammoth clydesdales.
I think she'll really love SeaWorld and the likes in a few years, but right now she just needs more rest between these adventures.

On the beautiful Gold Coast for a work conference, and lucky enough to spend the evening inside Seaworld for dinner and a private showing of their dolphin show. They truly are amazing creatures.
visit my photoblog for a few more shots and a short video from the show.

(March 30, 2009) ORLANDO, FLA. - SEAWORLD ORLANDO’S NEWBORN OTTERS IN GOOD HANDS - SeaWorld animal trainers in Orlando have their hands full with four baby Asian small-clawed otters. Born just three weeks ago to parents Simon and Sophie, the pups are nursing and will open their eyes in about a week. Asian small-clawed otters live in the rivers, creeks, estuaries and coastal waters of Southeast Asia, from northern India to southeastern China, the Malay Peninsula and parts of Indonesia. SeaWorld breeds the otters as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquarium’s Species Survival Plan, which aims to preserve, in zoos and aquariums, animals that are threatened or endangered in the wild. To discover more about otters and other sea life, go to SeaWorld.org.
