I wish you all a good month, and stay healthy.

Ich wünsche euch allen einen guten Monat, und bleibt gesund.

The blue channel marker here complements the light blue sky and sea. A motor boat is returning from a morning's fishing in Bass Strait, and is about to make its way up the Brid River channel to the boat ramp. It is a perfect Spring day in Bridport, Tasmania.

In the early afternoon sun these boats sit moored at the Launceston Seaport. With lock down restrictions in place they were not going anywhere soon. In any case, with no breeze those yachts wouldn't have been going out anyway.

It's a small port, a door

open to dreams.

The Launceston Seaport is the last remnants of an age when the Tamar River was a true cargo river port. Alas, larger ships and a growing silt problem has meant that only smaller boats can make the trip up the Tamar River from its entrance at Low Head. Today it is the site of apartments and restaurants. But it makes a fine subject, especially at night time.

South Street Seaport

My caption is a little literary fun. There's a book "Two Years Before The Mast" by Richard Henry Dana, Jr about his two years spent aboard a merchant ship that sailed from Boston to California.

Color Photo

I like my seaports murky and full of mystery. The kind of places where a guy could get Shanghai'd if he weren't careful. Easy to say from the comfort of my little studio.

Image imagined in MidJourney AI Version 3 and finished with Topaz Studio 2.0 and Lightroom Classic.

Have a terrific day, everyone...

Looking at the lightship Ambrose built in 1907 described as a floating lighthouse - it was used to guide ships from the Atlantic Ocean into the lower New York Bay and the Wavertree built in 1885 one of the last large sailing ship built of wrought iron.
