The blue channel marker here complements the light blue sky and sea. A motor boat is returning from a morning's fishing in Bass Strait, and is about to make its way up the Brid River channel to the boat ramp. It is a perfect Spring day in Bridport, Tasmania.

In the early afternoon sun these boats sit moored at the Launceston Seaport. With lock down restrictions in place they were not going anywhere soon. In any case, with no breeze those yachts wouldn't have been going out anyway.

The Launceston Seaport is the last remnants of an age when the Tamar River was a true cargo river port. Alas, larger ships and a growing silt problem has meant that only smaller boats can make the trip up the Tamar River from its entrance at Low Head. Today it is the site of apartments and restaurants. But it makes a fine subject, especially at night time.
Seascapes from Mystic Seaport in Mystic, CT. This image is of an old whaling ship. Mystic was the center of wooden shipbuilding in the US during the late 19th and early 20th century. The seaport is now a museum for the town's industrial heritage.
I like my seaports murky and full of mystery. The kind of places where a guy could get Shanghai'd if he weren't careful. Easy to say from the comfort of my little studio.
