Heather Kapplow arrived as a Public Art Grant resident to make her sign series, "Going," for the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail.
Knife-cut film stencil screenprint. Image based on an early 20th century encyclopedia illustration. I was interested in exploring ways of making solid tone and shading become more than secondary elements in the construction of an image.
Translation :
Lalji bhai, is your boy next door who doesn't boast of being a messiah and doesn't even sport a costume or identity concealing mask. He resides in your neighbourhood and likes to feed on mashed roasted - aubergine, tomatoes with crisps and flavoured rice. The name is Bhai - Lalji Bhai!
