@ the Screening of the 1925 restored "The Phantom of the Opera" film at the Fox Theater in Hanford, CA. The restored version add several minutes to the film, including the technicolor scenes. Music was by Dean Mora on the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ.

According to Luciano on Nitrateville.com: The basis for this print was the 1929 reissue. However Joe Rinaudo put some missing footage back in from 16mm prints (one being a Show at Home print) to bring forth some continuity that was lost in the 1929 cut. On top of that, many titles were restored that also brought some incoherent plot back to life. This was done by working from the original shooting scripts and other artifacts that gave a guide as to where these added scenes would go. The color scenes are also intact and in color, so you will be able to see the full 2 strip Technicolor scene in all her glory.

The garden scene takes place between Christine Daae and Viscomte de Chagny after the scene in her chamber in which she hears the Phantom and is told to foreswear all worldly concerns for her art. It is after this scene that she tells her lover that he must forget her and that she is committed to her music forever. In the garden scene, de Chagny learns that Christine has a muse (or Spirit of Music) that she believes has been sent by God in response to her prayers. None of this was in the 1929 print that Joe started with, but has now been restored.

Anemia is a global health problem that significantly affects the social and economic development of countries as well as the health of women and the outcome of births. Noninvasive anemia screening is a safe, simple, point-of-care method for detecting anemia without a blood draw. It expands access to and availability of screening and increases early identification of women at high risk of anemia-related complications.

PATH is evaluating two noninvasive anemia systems. We are determining target product profiles and business plans to overcome hurdles to introduction of this product category into global health markets. One of the tests, the Pronto7®, has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and has received the CE mark that permits it to be marketed in the European Economic Area.

Funding for this project is provided by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (US), the US Agency for International Development, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, other foundations, and individual donors. Read more about our work in noninvasive anemia screening.
