I snapped this shot of a downtown San Francisco, CA, skyscraper while climbing the stairs of the parking garage.
When I was little, I argued with my mother that these were sky scrapers .. not the very tall buildings as she insisted.
This is labeled O (scraper) from Paju, Gyeongg Province (Korea). Korea is known for the eo (tiger shaped scraper). The slotted bamboo wand is moved over the back teeth to give a percussive rattling sound. Scrapers are also used in Chinese, Mexican and Cuban music. This on is at The Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Arizona.
