Sep 22 four student volunteers from the Physics Dept’s Outreach Group joined the Chemistry Dept’s Outreach Group for “An Evening of Science” in front of the French Science Building. Using demonstrations, the students explained two topics they learned in mechanics, Newton’s 3rd Law and Waves.

Der fünfte Teil der Science-Fiction-Filmreihe "Terminator: Genisys" spielt im Zeitraum zwischen 1984 und 2029 und zeigt, wie sich die Menschen in der Zukunft im Widerstand von John Connor (Jason Clarke) gegen die Maschinen schlagen.
Um seine Mutter Sarah vor einem durch die Zeit reisenden Terminator zu schützen, schickt John Connor seinen loyalsten Kämpfer, Kyle Reese, erneut in die Vergangenheit. Ein unvorhergesehenes Ereignis hat jedoch alles verändert und Kyle findet sich in einer alternativen Zeit wieder, in der Sarah zu einer geschickten Kriegerin ausgebildet wurde und einen Terminator T-800 an ihrer Seite hat. Plötzlich hat Kyle eine ganz neue Aufgabe: Es gilt, die Zukunft wiederherzustellen.

European premiere TERMINATOR: GENISYS
The fifth installment of the science fiction film series "Terminator: Genisys" is set between 1984 and 2029 and shows how humans in the future fight against the machines in the resistance of John Connor (Jason Clarke).
To protect his mother Sarah from a time-traveling Terminator, John Connor sends his most loyal fighter, Kyle Reese, back in time. However, an unforeseen event has changed everything and Kyle finds himself in an alternate time where Sarah has been trained as a skilled warrior and has a Terminator T-800 at her side. Suddenly Kyle has a whole new mission: to restore the future.

The kids' buoyancy experiment: Part I: take a piece of clay which doesn't float - and make it float. Part II: How many marbles will your clay boat hold before it sinks.
The kids were thoroughly involved for over an hour making and breaking records. After a while they were told they could combine their two balls of clay to make a bigger boat.
We went to a "Sailing into Science" class at Oakland's Lake Merritt. It's a two day class for homeschoolers. The mornings are science, and the afternoons are applied science out on the lake!
Day one was about buoyancy. We went out with pedal boats, measuring the depth of Lake Merritt at different points.
