Nine hundred students from nearly 30 area high school, junior high school and middle schools competed in multiple event categories March 9 at College of DuPage as part of the 34th Annual Illinois Science Olympiad.

The Ensley Branch Library's afterschool Science Club continues its experiment on how to make electricity. This week students made a nine cell battery with the help of Elinor and Winfield Burks.

On March 14, 2009, students from southwest Washington middle and high schools participated in Science Olympiad, hosted by Lower Columbia College.

 

Students competed in a wide range of scientific fields, from anatomy to forensics to engineering.

 

Winners will move on to state, then national finals.

Science Building Groundbreaking

On behalf of iLearn STEAM Crew, I would like to congratulate the participants of the 6th Annual North Jersey Science Olympiad. This year’s 300 Olympians worked in 20 teams to complete 14 challenges in science, technology, engineering and problem solving. It was a wonderful tournament with full of energy and enthusiasm. The four highest scoring teams were awarded trophies and individual students received 1st to 6th place medals.

Science & Cocktails: Making a murderer

Lower Columbia College is proud to host the annual Science Olympiad where K-12 and High School students

complete in academic workshops. Students have gone through much preparation, commitment, coaching and

practice all year for this event. Competitions are related to a multitude of studies such as Genetics,

Engineering, Technology, Thermodynamics, Physics, Anatomy, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry and more.

We used the funds to buy computer keyboards, mouses, tablets, pay for bus transportation to different events such as the CyberPatriot Mayor's cup for 2 yeas, BSides conference, and buy lunch during our CyberPatriot competition days. -Silvia Ruiz-Martinez, CAST STEM High School
