Squirrels in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. Taken on Wednesday May 3rd, 2017. With my aggravated sciatica in my left leg, I could not get very far. Luckily, I previously noticed these three juvenile squirrels learning their ways up and down the tree over by Lorch Hall. It was great to see all three together.
Kettering General Hospital. After being confirmed by various tests, xrays and examinations that it was appendicitis within an hour I was in theatre. They also suggested that they think I have sciatica or some other disc problem and need to be referred to have further checks. Just what you want to hear as they put you under the anesthetic.
Taken at about 4.30 in the morning, after having to walk off a severe bout of sciatica. The pain was worth it for these colours alone.
What Is Sciatic Pain?
Sciatica is a nerve pain caused by an injury or burning in the sciatic nerve, which develops in your buttock/gluteal region. In general, sciatica pain affects only one part of the body.
A person with ‘sciatica’ may experience mild to severe pain anywhere along the path of the sciatic nerve, that is, anywhere from the lower back, hips, buttocks, and/or the bottom of your legs.
In the words of Dr. Tanveer Bhutani of Eva Hospital “the best thing to relieve from the sciatica pain is to do some stretching that can help external rotation of the hip to have some relief.”
