Back pain is pain felt in the back. Episodes of back pain may be acute, sub-acute, or chronic depending on the duration. The pain may be characterized as a dull ache, shooting or piercing pain, or a burning sensation. The pain may radiate into the arms and hands as well as the legs or feet, and may include paresthesia (tingling with no apparent cause), weakness or numbness in the legs and arms. The anatomic classification of back pain follows the segments of the spine: neck pain (cervical), middle back pain (thoracic), lower back pain (lumbar) or coccydynia (tailbone or sacral pain) with the lumbar vertebrae area most common for pain.
The pain may originate from the muscles, nerves, bones, joints or other structures in the vertebral column (spine). Internal structures such as the gallbladder and pancreas may also cause referred pain in the back.
Back pain is common with about nine out of ten adults experiencing it at some point in their life, and five out of ten working adults having it every year. However, it is rare for it to be permanently disabling, and in most cases of herniated disks and stenosis, rest, injections or surgery have similar general pain resolution outcomes on average after one year. In the United States, acute low back pain is the fifth most common reason for physician visits and causes 40% of missed days off work. Additionally, it is the single leading cause of disability worldwide.

It is Tuesday, which naturally means free Caffe Nero day and so a walk into town to get this after a few hours work to power me through the rest of the morning. The morning has been punctuated with watching pigeons and robins in the garden whilst reading up, amongst other things, on NICE guidelines for sciatica to try and link in with cauda equina. It has turned out much of a trip down a rabbit hole stemming off into other areas. On the plus side, much less involved than the time I had to review multiple guidelines on UTIs and learnt more than I ever needed to about the various lines of antibiotics and referral for recurring.
In less work related news, I have now nailed the top section onto the mud kitchen and can proceed with working on it in the evening to round the edges to protect Squishy’s eyes, temples, head or all other manner of appendage in accordance with the majority of children having some form of unaware death wish.
Also, mocha was good.

11:45am I wasn't feeling well today (I seem to have a chest cold) and took a nap around 9:30am. I took this snap when I woke up. The 'lump' in the bed is a pillow that I use under my legs to avoid sciatica issues.
Friday is the day Jools does Yoga, goes swimming and does other chores first thing, while I put the bins out and drink coffee.
Only now I don't have to go to work at seven now, of course.
So, I messed around online, then sat on the patio having filled the feeders up, while Mulder and Scully laid with me until the sun got to warm for them, so they found a large plant to sleep under.
I had a touch of sciatica, but hoped that going out for a stomp to Bonsai Bank would help.
Readers, it didn't.
Anyway, once Jools returned at half nine, and we had a coffee together, I left for the orchid fields. Woods.
A fine day to be out, and traffic was light, out along the A2, then through Bridge, Petham before arriving in Denge Wood.
From Pennypot Lane its about a mile walk through the woods to Bonsai, mostly downhill on the way out, which made for a pleasant walk through the dappled sunlight. Before tackling the final slope up the bank.
You know you have arrived as there were a dozen Lady Orchids either side of the track, usually there is one or two.
Then into the reserve, and while laying down to snap a Lady Orchid, a Duke of Burgundy butterfly landed in snapping range, so I snapped it. So, in five minutes of arriving I had the shot I wanted.
But then there are the Lady Orchids.
Hundreds of Lady Orchids.
The best year there for over a decade I think.
I took lots of shots. Of course.
I walked to the far end of the site, then down and back to the start again. Lady, Early Purple, Fly, White Helleborine, Greater Butterfly all in flower, and Common Spotted close.
Orchid heaven.
And then the long walk back to the car. And did my back and legs complain. Yes, yes they did.
There's not much of a slope up from Bonsai, but I felt it yesterday, I had no choice but to keep going, and made it, of course.
Phew.
I stopped off at the Black Robin for a beer and crisps before going to Covet again to check for the Birds-nest Orchids I know were there as they'd been found.
The beer was good, then the short drive to the parking space, then a stomp in the woods.
They're by the tree with the sapling was the directions given.
I found no BNO, but I did refind the pure white Lady again. Only just beginning to open and looking like a Ghost (but not a Ghost Orchid).
My back was shot, so I walked back to the car, then drove home via Tesco where I bought some bread for dinner and ice cream.
Hazelnut Magnums.
Double Hazelnut Magnums.
Then back home.
We had a Magnum sitting on the patio.
Still better than working.
Supper was Caprese with real aged Balsamic which I had bought in Italy last year, but not best suited for Caprese, as the oil diluted it too much.
Then there was the comedy football evening as Spurs and Man Utd battled to be the 16th and 17th best team in the Prem.
Both lost.
Very funny.

The Lake is recognized as an important Monument of Nature, because of its marvelous surroundings and its natural location. The Lake’s impressive shape was formed by geological changes that were unable to be chronologically specified. The scientific research came to the conclusion that where the Lake stands now, millions of years ago, a huge underground cave existed. The walls of the cave suffered erosion, because of the high temperature hot springs that were streaming inside, causing the roof to collapse and ending with the ground’s sinking.
The water
The water of the Lake gushes from its water springs located 50 to 100m underground. The water’s temperature remains stable between 21ο C and 27ο C. The level of the Lake’s water is half a meter above the sea level making it to move towards the sea, therefore, keeping its waters constantly renewed.
The Water’s Composition
The water of the Lake is brackish and has healing capacities due to its composition which among other minerals it consists of: Potassium, Natrium, Lithium, Ammonium, Calcium, Ferrum, Chloride, Iodine, and is slightly radioactive. All these elements provide relief in all kind of arthritis, dermatological and gynecological conditions, as well as, in backaches and sciatica.

There is a danger of running out of superlatives when trying to describe Beverley Minster. It is not only the second finest non-cathedral church in the country but is architecturally a far finer building than most of our cathedrals themselves! It will come as a surprise to many visitors to find this grand edifice simply functions today as a parish church and has never been more than collegiate, a status it lost at the Reformaton. What had added to its mystique and wealth was its status as a place of pilgrimage housing the tomb of St John of Beverley, which drew visitors and revenue until the Reformation brought an end to such fortunes and the shrine was destroyed (though the saint's bones were later rediscovered and reinterred in the nave). That this great church itself survived this period almost intact is little short of a miracle in itself.
There has been a church here since the 8th century but little remains of the earlier buildings aside from the Saxon chair near the altar and the Norman font in the nave. The present Minster's construction spans the entirety of the development of Gothic architecture but forms a surprisingly harmonious whole nevertheless, starting with Early English in the 13h century choir and transepts (both pairs) with their lancet windows in a building phase that stopped at the first bays of the nave. Construction was then continued with the nave in the 14th century but only the traceried windows betray the emergent Decorated style, the design otherwise closely followed the work of the previous century which gives the Minster's interior such a pleasingly unified appearance (the only discernable break in construction within can be seen where the black purbeck-marble ceased to be used for certain elements beyond the eastern bay of the nave). Finally the building was completed more or less by 1420 with the soaring west front with its dramatic twin-towers in Perpendicular style (the east window must have been enlarged at this point too to match the new work at the west end).
The fabric happily survived the Reformation intact aside from the octagonal chapter-house formerly adjoining the north choir aisle which was dismantled to raise money by the sale of its materials while the church's fate was in the balance (a similar fate was contemplated for the rest of the church by its new owners until the town bought it for retention as a parish church for £100). The great swathes of medieval glass alas were mostly lost, though seemingly as much to neglect and storm-damage in the following century than the usual iconoclasm. All that survived of the Minster's original glazing was collected to form the patchwork display now filling the great east window, a colourful kaleidoscope of fragments of figures and scenes. Of the other furnishings the choir stalls are the major ensemble and some of the finest medieval canopied stalls extant with a full set of charming misericords (though most of these alas are not normally on show).
There are suprisingly few monuments of note for such an enormous cathedral-like church, but the one major exception makes up for this, the delightful canopied Percy tomb erected in 1340 to the north of the high altar. The tomb itself is surprisingly plain without any likeness remaining of the deceased, but the richly carved Decorated canopy above is alive with gorgeous detail and figurative embellishments. There are further carvings to enjoy adorning the arcading that runs around the outer perimeter of the interior, especially the north nave aisle which has the most rewarding carved figures of musicians, monsters and people suffering various ailments, many were largely restored in the 19th century but still preserve the medieval spirit of irreverent fun.
To summarise Beverley Minster would be difficult other than simply adding that if one enjoys marvelling at Gothic architecture at its best then it really shouldn't be missed and one should prioritise it over the majority of our cathedrals. It is a real gem and a delight to behold, and is happily normally open and welcoming to visitors (who must all be astonished to find this magnificent edifice is no more than a simple parish church in status!). I thoroughly enjoyed this, my second visit here (despite the best efforts of the poor weather!).

Essentially I have 3 intertwined stories to share about personal magic. When I went to Atlanta week before last, no less than 5 women complimented me on my nail color between the time I hit the Tampa Airport and drove out of the rental lot in Atlanta. I had to stop on my way to the friends I stayed with over the weekend to pick up my hairspray (aerosol…the only one I can’t live without), and I saw the nail polish on sale, buy one get one half off. I decided to pick up 2, one for touch-ups and one to give to the next person who complimented me on my nails. It ended up being a friend and co-worker named Jasmin, and how jazzed was Jazzy, when she complimented me on my nail color and I said, “One second”, went and got a bottle from my purse, told her she was the winner and gave it to her? I told her the story, which made her laugh and say, “Only you, Kathleen.”
Fast forward to today, I’m out running errands like crazy because last weekend my happiness was stuck on the couch putting ice on my sciatica issue. I took Jessi with me as much as possible because she was a lump with me last weekend. Seriously, I had popped into so many places, and used 3 different cards depending on whether it was for the house, for me, or whatever. One place we went was Mister Car Wash, and as we were getting out of the car, one of the employees asked me where I got the “Cherries” in the photo. He thought his girlfriend would like them, I told him Dollar General, but they were $5 bucks, and it was a couple of years ago.
The last place I stopped was Route 60 Liquor for beer, because my father-in-law is staying with us, and the Coors Light we have in stock is like water to him, so I picked up some Dogfish Head IPA (because I’m making a shark out of the caps for my hubby’s nautical room…weird huh?) I think it will be cool though. While I was in the store, one of the employees, Tim, knew I was a photographer and asked me if I would be interested in photographing his son who is looking for some headshots. Sure, here’s my number, here’s my card and e-mail. The other employee named Nicole said she liked my nail color. (I had just purchased 2 more bottles buy one get one half off, because I figured if everyone liked it this much, my sister would like it too.) So, I told her she was today’s winner of a bottle of the nail color, but she needed to be the new marketing rep. I gave Tim the bottle for her when he walked me to my car. The color for those who are interested is called “Pat on the Black” by Sally Hansen. It’s a DEEP wine that looks black, and not at all “Goth”. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just not my goal.
When I got home, I searched the internet for these Cherries, so I could call the guy at the carwash and let him know where he could find them for his girlfriend, which I did. www.clingblings.com I also purchased some additional cling blings and sent the company a nice e-mail about how my original one has lasted in spite of many carwashes, and how many people have commented on it. As I’m looking for my card to make the purchase I realize I’m a card short. I searched my purse, searched my car, and then I went to call Route 60 and see if I had left it there. I noted I had a voicemail, so I listened to it first. Sure enough if was Tim at Rt. 60, letting me know I had left my debit card there.
The moral of the story is hopefully pretty obvious. The Magic is being engaged with the world, being good to people, and maybe, just maybe giving a little extra something special if you can, as in surprising people. Most of the time, I’m certainly not surprising people with purchased gifts, but I often surprise people because I’m listening and I remember what they say. Listening with your heart and mind, and perhaps more importantly doing something with the knowledge in word, thought or act is powerful Magic, and I wanted to share it with you. Someone told me recently that I’m disarming. I think they might be one of the best compliments I’ve received this year. I’ve been a corporate recruiter for going on 20 years in the Tampa market, and its good Karma thinking of all the lives I’ve touched in that time. What goes around definitely comes around my friends.
In the words of Bill and Ted, “Be Excellent to Each Other”. =o)

These 5 Yoga Poses Will Relieve Your Headaches:
1. Corpse Pose
Steps:
1. Lie flat on the floor, ensuring that there will be no disturbance for the duration of the pose. Make sure you are comfortable, but don’t use any pillows or cushions. It will be best if you lie on a hard surface.
2. Close your eyes.
3. Place your legs such that they are comfortably apart. Make sure your legs relax completely and your toes are facing sidewards.
4. Your arms must be placed along your body and slightly apart, leaving your palms open and facing upwards.
5. Now, slowly draw attention to every area of your body, starting from your toes. As you do this, breathe slowly, yet deeply, setting your body in a state of deep relaxation. Do not fall asleep in the process.
6. Breathe slowly, yet deeply. This will impart complete relaxation. As you breathe in, your body will be energized, and as you breathe out, your body will calm down. Focus on yourself and your body, forgetting all other tasks. Let go and surrender! But make sure you don’t doze off.
7. In about 10 to 12 minutes, when your body feels relaxed and refreshed, roll to one side, keeping your eyes closed. Stay in the position for a minute, until you sit up in Sukhasana.
8. Take a few deep breaths and gain awareness of your surroundings before you open your eyes again.
Benefits:
1. Brings The Body To A Meditative State
The body relaxes and goes into a deep meditative state, which in turn helps repair the cells and tissues and releases stress.
2. Relaxes And Calms The Body
Shavasana replenishes and rejuvenates your body. It is a great end to your workout, especially if it has been an intense one. The Savasana also gives space and time for the workout to sink in. It is a perfect buffer between exercise and your daily chores.
3. Reduces Blood Pressure And Anxiety
As your body relaxes and calms down, your blood pressure also drops, and this helps relax your heart. As a result, anxiety is in control.
4. Improves Concentration And Memory
The direct effect of meditation is focus and concentration. While you focus on each area of your body while you are in Shavasana, your mind automatically improves concentration and memory.
5. Increases Levels Of Energy
Savasana is the fastest and safest way to gain instant energy. The 10-minute break gives your body an energy boost, and thereby, increases your productivity.
2. Bridge Pose(Setu Bandhasana)
Steps:
Lie flat on your back with arms at your sides, palms down. Bend your knees and place your feet flat on the floor. Keep your feet hip width apart, parallel to each other, and as close to the buttocks as possible. 3.Improves flexibility, especially in the spine
