Jax' been sporting this sweet coat for some days now. I'ts from Hotdog. It's awesome. Comes in wool & leather with a lot of different options and colours. Multiple delicious fur trimmings. It's fairly inexpensive. So, go get it :D

Stumbled across a new cool Sci-Fi sandbox/location so grabbed a shot of this great space station and made a LM.

A grade II listed structure, the Tees Newport Bridge was originally constructed in 1934 and was designed to lift up to allow boats to pass through on the River Tees underneath. To celebrate its 80th birthday it recently had a repaint in its original grey and red colours, not that you may see them in this photograph as it also had a new LED lighting system installed which allows it to be lit up in an array of colours.
With all of the steel and its hulking presence it is almost reminiscent of something out of a space sci-fi movie.
As a photographer this is what appeals to me about this image: The patterns in the girders, the rainbow colours running down the sides of the uprights and the patterns the shadows make on some of the blue beams.
The theme of this years Sci-Fi Con is Brave New Future and personally I find the region EcoTech embraces this theme best with a promising green, sustainable bright future.
The other themes are cyberpunk, dieselpunk, new future, silver tech, space western, steampunk, super heroes and all 8 regions - 9 including the landing hub - are worth explore and enjoy the awesome builds and creativity.

Not sure if someone already use the new award or not, i did a new upload just in case. I redid some things over and made it look better and you can see it working in the comments area.
Info: I made another one for the Sci-Fi themes and you can see it working in the comments area. This one was base on the first one with some changes to it, the boxes are now more bright with little more lighting effects on them and I also made a new mesh model for the layer that looks longer like it is more far away.
I will soon make some new cool stuff for the black and white group too, get it looking way better.

Flickr compresses images, affecting their quality. I rendered this one multiple times at varying resolutions and light settings and each time uploaded it to check distortions caused by Flick's compression algorithm. This is the least bad. The original file looks better.
I am making progress with Blender. Never thought I would be able to make things like this. When I first opened Blender, I had no idea what to screen showed, and it took me a full day to work my way through the first 30 minutes tutorial I had a go at. The first task being somehow getting rid of the infamous default cube!
Still, I figured if others can do it, so can I. If something is learnable, I can learn it. It took some determination though.
The alien space ship is made by applying the discombabulator on a torus mesh (a technique explained by Kev Binge here), then I removed a ring of protrusions and replaced it with a cylinder in which I made windows (inset faces, extrude along the normals) with an emission shader for the lights.
For the city I used the same technique as the one I used to make the carpet with the piano some time ago:
I first made a dozen or so low poly buildings and put those in an object collection.
Then I set up a plane as particle emitter but instead of emitting hairs I made it randomly emit hundreds of buildings from the collection at random heights. This is a lot quicker than having to copy/paste and resize buildings manually.
Light effects are created with area lights. And the fog is created with volumetrics.
By keeping everything low poly, it is possible to make such scenes even with my computer. The most important thing is a good graphics card with decent cooling.
