The popular Viennese horse butcher Schuller had to declare bankruptcy last spring, but fortunately their products continue to be available from the former competitor Gumprecht. This applies in particular to Rudolf Schuller's vintage horse Leberkäse whose loss would have been a disaster for connoisseurs.

This morning I noticed the snow finally starting to recede from from my garden beds. I went out to explore..especially where the first flowers, the crocus, usually comes up.
I did see a little purple poking out, so I moved the thick matting of leaves..and there they were..the first flowers of the year..my crocuses! But the poor things, from being crushed under snow and debris, were growing sideways. But they were still healthy and hardy..which gave me a newfound respect for the crocus; even though they were being crushed, they still tried to reach the sun. I think we could all learn a little something from the flowers ;-)

Remembering Robert Schuller on the anniversary of his death on April 2, 2015.
Robert Harold Schuller (September 16, 1926 – April 2, 2015) was an American Christian televangelist, pastor, motivational speaker, and author. Schuller was principally known for the weekly Hour of Power television program, which he began hosting in 1970 until his retirement in 2010.
He is also known preaching in his "drive-in church" early in his ministry and for the creation of the Crystal Cathedral, both in Garden Grove, California.
We visited an apple orchard to pick our own apples yesterday, the first time in decades since I did this! Best seen large by clicking on the photo .
In this shot you can see an apple besides a nest in the tree.
Thanks for visiting, you did not have to, so it is much appreciated,

Current Film: (500) Days of Summer. Just rented it and adored it. Promptly bought the soundtrack the next day.
Current TV show: technically not current, but in less than a month LOST begins it’s final season and I am beside myself. Boone and Charlie again! Answers! But fuck, I wish it wasn’t ending. I have instructed my Best Gays, who I usually watch with each week, to come dressed as their favorite Other for the first first ep.
Current Song: “Sleepyhead,” by Passion Pit, “Morning Mist,” by Sebastian Schuller
Current Albums: Glee, The Music – Volume 1 and 2. Covers EP by Greg Laswell
Current Anticipation/Excitement: Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globe awards on Sunday. He is, by far, my favorite comedian. No hyperbole in that statement, swear.
Current Disappointment: ‘Big Love’’s new season premiered last night and it didn’t hold my interest the way it normally does.
Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure: a few friends, whose tastes I trust, finally convinced me to give the Twilight book series a go. In 14 pages, I’ll have finished the third book, Eclipse, and be ready to start the fourth and final book. While I can’t say that the books are good, they are highly addictive and fun. And I resent this.

"Letter to Elise," by The Cure
at least I'd lose this sense of sensing something else
that hides away
from me and you
they're worlds to part
with aching looks and breaking hearts
and all the prayers your hands you make
oh I just take as much as you can throw
and then throw it all away
oh I throw it all away
like throwing faces at the sky

3/100 Favorite Things: catch lights. it may seem simple and, for some, a very easy thing to do, but capturing catch lights in my eyes has proven to be a daunting and largely unsuccessful venture until just recently. when i took the dozens of arms length photos with the 50mm and 35mm lenses (this being one), i was facing forward, staring directly into a window. and it worked!!
so my Favorite Thing # 3 is finally, finally getting my very own catch lights!!!

Peu de visibilité hier matin sur les falaises du Tréport , j'avais repéré cette crête sur laquelle venait régulièrement se poser des goélands. Un peu de patience et de chance pour en voir surgir un de la brume.
Little visibility yesterday morning on the cliffs of Tréport, I had spotted this ridge on which regularly came to land gulls. A little patience and luck to see one emerge from the mist.

I'm sorry to keep ULing file photos this week. I haven't picked up my camera for anything but the paper in days. Although I will say that looking through old photos with new eyes has me liking shots that I previously hated. I think you all should try it. ;)
And just as a side bit of trivia, this is one of the apples from the light bulb shot awhile back. It's always good to make the most of one's subject and one's money -- especially when ruining perfectly good produce by screwing light bulbs into it.
