The popular Viennese horse butcher Schuller had to declare bankruptcy last spring, but fortunately their products continue to be available from the former competitor Gumprecht. This applies in particular to Rudolf Schuller's vintage horse Leberkäse whose loss would have been a disaster for connoisseurs.

This morning I noticed the snow finally starting to recede from from my garden beds. I went out to explore..especially where the first flowers, the crocus, usually comes up.
I did see a little purple poking out, so I moved the thick matting of leaves..and there they were..the first flowers of the year..my crocuses! But the poor things, from being crushed under snow and debris, were growing sideways. But they were still healthy and hardy..which gave me a newfound respect for the crocus; even though they were being crushed, they still tried to reach the sun. I think we could all learn a little something from the flowers ;-)

Remembering Robert Schuller on the anniversary of his death on April 2, 2015.
Robert Harold Schuller (September 16, 1926 – April 2, 2015) was an American Christian televangelist, pastor, motivational speaker, and author. Schuller was principally known for the weekly Hour of Power television program, which he began hosting in 1970 until his retirement in 2010.
He is also known preaching in his "drive-in church" early in his ministry and for the creation of the Crystal Cathedral, both in Garden Grove, California.
We visited an apple orchard to pick our own apples yesterday, the first time in decades since I did this! Best seen large by clicking on the photo .
In this shot you can see an apple besides a nest in the tree.
Thanks for visiting, you did not have to, so it is much appreciated,

Peu de visibilité hier matin sur les falaises du Tréport , j'avais repéré cette crête sur laquelle venait régulièrement se poser des goélands. Un peu de patience et de chance pour en voir surgir un de la brume.
Little visibility yesterday morning on the cliffs of Tréport, I had spotted this ridge on which regularly came to land gulls. A little patience and luck to see one emerge from the mist.

I'm sorry to keep ULing file photos this week. I haven't picked up my camera for anything but the paper in days. Although I will say that looking through old photos with new eyes has me liking shots that I previously hated. I think you all should try it. ;)
And just as a side bit of trivia, this is one of the apples from the light bulb shot awhile back. It's always good to make the most of one's subject and one's money -- especially when ruining perfectly good produce by screwing light bulbs into it.

HFF! I cannot stop myself from taking these colourful Autumn photos. I may be offline most of the weekend, so have fun. My grand-daughter Keira asked me today whether I told everyone that this tree was in their yard. It is, (apologies to Keira and Ellis for not mentioning them).
Best seen large.

[Last weekend Kristi came to visit. We walked past this beautiful shriveled plant with its delicate peach-colored leaves. It was withering from the uncharacteristic lack of rain here in Washington, which broke my heart but also made me want to capture it in its unique beauty.
Unlike this firmly rooted plant, we have a choice to wither or thrive. Limited by circumstance much of the time, but armed with the power of the mind and heart, we can accomplish so, so much. In a world of negatives and nos and naysayers, it's easy to suppress ourselves. But I believe we each have a responsibility to rise above in ways small or great, to say no to those saying no to us, and to follow our dreams and hearts. Nobody will hold us accountable for following our dreams more so than we ourselves will. You owe it to you to believe in you and to follow through in that belief. Thrive, friends.]
