Another view of Loch a'Chuilinn which is near the Hydro Electric scheme at Grudie. As I have said this is usually my first stop and it is always so special to be here.
One of the perks of attending the Lexington Group meeting in Kansas City in October 2013 was a ride on the KCS business train from Kansas City Union Station to a wye at Amsterdam, Missouri, a distance of 62 miles. We left KC at about 09:30 and arrived back at about 13:00. It was a fun trip. KCS president Mike Haverty was along, and the company provided all sorts of food and drinks for the guests.
This image was made at 13:05, just a few minutes after we arrived back in Kansas City. This was a beautiful train, inside and out. You can't beat that KCS paint scheme.

Of the many new UP paint scheme variants, the 7271 is wearing what may be about the best one; Wings, and no flag. Obviously, I'd be pro-silver trucks, red frame stripe, and green nose anti-skid, but this is about as good as it gets these days.
This unit was released from GE in November 2022 (flic.kr/p/2nXVwn8), but still looks like it's fresh out of the shop here in early March of the next year.
Here, we see this C44ACM rebuild leading the GVASAL 28, a grain train from Avon, IA to Shamrock,KS. "Shamrock" was a location that I couldn't find immediately, but upon further investigation, I found that UP puts it between Pratt and Liberal, KS, and potentially to the east of Arkalon?
Regardless, this particular shot was taken at MacVicar Ave. in Topeka on UP's Topeka Sub.
Against all odds our harebrained attack scheme worked!!! We spent 5 minutes staring at the webbed crates contemplating our imminent and almost instant deaths. Just goes to show yah...never say never....

One could not find a more appropriate paint scheme to follow across rich green fields on a rainy Oregon morning. Oh, how deeply she understood the dark and twisted design they had laid bare before her; yet, an insatiable craving ignited within her heart for that coveted title! How it seethed and simmered in her very soul, driving her to conjure a cataclysmic scheme that could only be birthed in the depths of despair! She languished in anticipation, a tempest of emotion coursing through her veins, as she waited, aching, for the moment they would pour the sanguine elixir down her quivering body. As the warm, crimson liquid flowed over her, embracing her like a long-lost lover, it awakened the fearsome demon that lay dormant within her, thrumming with a deadly purpose!
Her loyal match, a symbol of her fierce resolve, concealed just out of sight, poised and ready, awaited her command—a faithful companion in this dance of chaos! And with the first swing, oh, the exhilarating release! The head severed from its weary owner—oh, the sweet, intoxicating taste of revenge surged through her! In that instant, every ounce of rage that she had buried deep within erupted like a raging volcano, and she could no longer contain it! No longer a mere whisper of fury—it transformed into a symphony of vengeance, echoing through the very marrow of her being!

I was one of the lucky ones who got to spend the day with what's left of the men, women and machines of the Royal Air Force's amazing Tornado Force today.
These incredible workhorses have less than two months left before the disbandment parade that will signify the end of their operational careers.
Fittingly, RAF Marham has painted one of the machines into the scheme the type wore when entering service. She looks magnificent.
Sincere thanks to all for their efforts today and always.

This magnificent entrance made in 1745 during the 3rd renovation, by the brilliant baroque sculpture Ignacio Vergara Gimeno makes reference to the two largest rivers in the vast Valencian region the Turia and Jućar, that is represented by two naked human figures; under these two buckets pour water in clear reference to the title of ththre Marquises. On the right side of the entrance it set represented two heads of crocodile, a quiver of arrows and a vessel by whose mouth pour the water. On this set one of the two great figures referred to above and higher up decoration of ivy whose trunk it curls a snake.
On the left side, a reclining lion, another vessel pouring water into and other quiver of arrows. On the back of the lion resting the foot on the other giant. Beauty and grandeur of this entrance is truly a masterpiece.
The railfan coveted three scheme lashup is a true treat and quite the rare event on the Alaska Railroad. In the decade I lived in Alaska I can count on one hand the number of times I got to photograph it happening. By this late date there were only three GP40-2s in the old 1970s black and gold scheme with the rest of the fleet wearing the current 'Baby Mac' paint and the only units left liveried in the 1980s 'Alaska Bold' scheme were GP38-2s that were mostly relegated to yard service in Anchorage and Fairbanks. But once in a while one would get out on the road such as happened on this picture perfect late winter day.
The geep trio are leading a 120N from Whittier to Anchorage seen emerging from the north end of the 13,338 ft long Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel at MP F5.6 on the Alaska Railroad's Whittier Branch.
The tunnel which is the only land based access to the important port community of Whittier on Prince William Sound is a marvel of engineering. Originally built by the US Army and opened in 1943 it was converted to dual use more than two decades ago and is the longest shared highway/rail tunnel in North America and is essentially a 2.5 mile long grade crossing.
For those of you interested in learning more about this fascinating tunnel click here to visit the Alaska state DOT's official web site on the tunnel:

SM42-2547 shunts with a set of Cedrob containers, which are to be loaded up at the local bulk cargo terminal in the harbour of Gdynia. At the end of July 2023 the locomotive has undergone a repair together with a change in the paint scheme. From now on, all CTL locomotives are to be painted this way.
The list of locomotives in this new livery is currently still relatively short. This is the only 'Stonka' which I saw in Gdynia to have the orange and silver paint put on, however there might be some other ones around the country. There is also ET22-R002 after a repair finished just before last christmas eve.

A CSX West Olive coal train turns the corner toward Grand Rapids in Plymouth, Michigan with a much improved yellow nose scheme. I hated the all grey and blue/grey schemes, this was an improvement but far from what could have been considering all the classy schemes that disappeared into Family Lines and CSX. April 1990

Almost a 1/2 hour later, the helpers from the W/B pipe train (Conrail SD40s-6288 & 6290) are drifting back toward Altoona for their next assignment. 6288 is the former CNJ/B&O 3064. The Capitol Dome logo is showing through behind the CR stencil. Later, this unit was painted into the CR Blue scheme with a large United Way ad on the long hood.
