Happy Fence and Flickr Friday!

Today I was given the Scarlet Letter, Scarlet Letter theme that is from Flickr Friday, the original scarlet letter was a red A for Adultery, in a novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1850.

Full moon over Baltimore's iconic Domino Sugar factory. Had to wait until Sunday night's full moon and just lucky that the moon was going to line up with this scene. Thank you Photopills!

For Get Pushed, Round 12, I was paired up with a very under the weather, Lo766.

I was given two options and opted for this one, "...interpret a Book or Film title in any way you like!" Can you guess the title chosen?

It took me awhile to track down information on this vehicle. Here is a link to an article from a few years ago.

Symbolism in The Scarlet Letter

Red Color

"Although red color is, mostly, associated with sex, infatuation, passion, violence, and life of sin, it is also associated with true love and purity of heart. In the novel, this color is associated with red roses which means energy, while at one place, it also shows lost passion and sincere love, as the scarlet letter and crimson color of cheeks show love and passion."

One should be careful about parting words. They are often not soon forgotten.

"Dearest Rhett,

I hope this letter finds you basking in the glory of your latest grand departure. How thrilling it must be to leave a trail of broken hearts and shattered dreams in your wake. Truly, you are a master of the dramatic exit.

I must commend you on your impeccable timing. Leaving me in the midst of chaos and ruin was a stroke of genius. Who needs a steady hand or a supportive partner when one can have the thrill of abandonment? Bravo, Rhett, bravo.

Your parting words, and I shan't repeat your vulgarity, were nothing short of poetic. Such eloquence, such finesse! It’s a wonder you didn’t pursue a career in the theater. Your talent for delivering crushing blows with a smile is unparalleled.

I shall cherish the memories of our time together, especially the moments when you so graciously pointed out my flaws and shortcomings. Your keen observations were truly enlightening. How fortunate I am to have had the privilege of your condescension.

Rest assured, I will soldier on without you. After all, I have always been a survivor, and I shall continue to thrive despite your absence. Perhaps one day, when you tire of your endless adventures, you will look back and realize what you have lost. But until then, enjoy your freedom, Rhett. You have certainly earned it.

Yours ever so sincerely,

Scarlett O’Hara"

It is most likely that this will not be the last that Rhett hears from her.

Nathaniel Hawthrone's novel The Scarlet Letter (1850) starts with the Customs House in Salem, Massachusetts, where the author said he found an embroidered letter and some notes that gave him the story. This is not Salem, Massachsetts, but the building in the middle is the Customs House of another formerly busy, now quiet port, Lancaster UK, on St. George's Quay, with the old warehouses to the right and the George and Dragon pub to the left. From the other side of the Lune.

The Cox Warehouse from the 1800s. This is one of the largest wooden buildings in the Canadian maritime provinces, it was built for the Cox family in 1902. The Town of Shelburne has numerous 18th century buildings and has been the location for a number of movies, including "The Scarlet Letter", the steeple was added for that movie.

One of the Town of Shelburne’s most recognizable landmarks along the historic waterfront could someday be considered for demolition.

While no major decisions have been made at this time for the future of the Cox Warehouse, the Shelburne Historical Society has submitted an application to demolish or have substantial alterations done to the building. The Shelburne Historic Society does not have the capacity or capability of looking after the huge, 16,000 square foot structure and as it further deteriorates and becomes less safe.

Can someone pass me a bucket?
