Cartagena es una de las doscientas ciudades europeas donde se han desarrollado del 1 al 5 de febrero de 2016 eventos de promoción de actividades relacionadas con Internet de las Cosas y las nuevas tecnologías. La Startup Europe Week, auspiciada por la Comisión Europea, tiene como objetivo crear ecosistemas de emprendimiento que faciliten el desarrollo de nuevas empresas en un sector estratégico como son las nuevas tecnologías. El SEW Cartagena se desarrolló en la Cámara de Comercio el 2 de febrero y contó con la organización y el patrocinio de Startup Scaleup, aceleradora de Internet de las Cosas.
