Of all the images I've seen of Antelope Canyon, the sense of scale is never properly expressed.

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by

madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn

looking for an angry fix,

angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly

connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night..."

Allen Ginsberg, poem "Howl".

A.Ginsberg is considered to be one of the leading figures of both the Beat Generation during the 1950s and the counterculture that soon followed.

I have decided to show how A. Ginsberg (performed by James Franco in the eponymous movie) reads a fragment of the poem, San Francisco.

Just a bit upstream, this creek is quite peaceful, slowly, and lazily negotiating its way around stones, cliffs and the like. But at one point, as if by a change of heart, it makes a run for it, and the quiet babbling quickly becomes a roaring crescendo, ascending in intensity, as the water loses height, one step at a time.

LE SCALE

Le scale

questi ansanti tabernacoli bianchi

marmi sui quali gli umani

pavimentano l’anima.

Scale fatte d’aria

dove non ruotano i venti.

Scale adorne

che separano i ferrati dai lenti.

Scale in stile gotico, apostolico

che non portano a Dio

né alla sacralità dell’Essere.

Scale intime, abissali

sotto boschi

dove urlano i corvi.

Le scale

questi penosi tabernacoli bianchi

dalle antiche radici di ferro

che non danno colore

non spargono odore

a chi stringe più in alto lo scettro.

It occurred to me that I hadn't taken a good scale photo with the minifigs in front.

So here it is.

The Witch Head Nebula (also known as IC 2118) is a faint, eerie-looking reflection nebula in the constellation Eridanus, near the bright star Rigel in the neighbouring constellation Orion. Its name comes from its resemblance to the profile of a witch's face, complete with a hooked nose and chin.

This rendition is a little different. The image scale of my instrument does not allow the entire Witch head to be seen, only the chin and nose are in the frame. I have also flipped the traditional orientation, which is upside down in the version. I think it works in this orientation, the highlighting at the top is my favourite part.

Here are some key features:

Composition: The nebula is made up of interstellar dust and gas that reflects the light of nearby stars, primarily Rigel. This scattered light gives the nebula its characteristic bluish colour, enhanced by the dust particles, which scatter blue light more efficiently than red.

Location and Size: It lies approximately 900 to 1,000 light-years from Earth and spans about 50 light-years, making it a large structure in the sky.

Illumination: The bright light from Rigel is the primary source of illumination, but other nearby stars also contribute. The nebula's reflection effect is similar to how Earth's atmosphere scatters sunlight.

Appearance: Its spooky, ghostly shape and faint glow make it a striking subject for astrophotographers and astronomers.

Astronomical Interest: The nebula's dusty regions are of interest for studying the processes of star formation and the interaction of starlight with interstellar matter.

The Witch Head Nebula is a fascinating example of how simple interstellar materials can create striking, familiar shapes in the cosmos when viewed from Earth.

I felt like building some more micro scale T-formers, so I decided on Shockwave. Consists of 30 pieces and transforms from robot to tank without adding or taking away parts.

Cappella Bizantina

Just an updated version that I'm happier with.

I've been wanting to take pictures of my teeny tiny Silverbeam ponies for a while now :) they are perfectly 1:4 scaled. I hope the colors on these turned out okay, I edited them on my laptop and its a color gank :/

I never realized how many interesting buildings and views there are in the town I live in until I seriously started to scout around for backgrounds.

The one thing I have to do is wait until the shops close so there aren't any cars or trucks mixing in with the Elgin Park vibe.

Usually early in the morning or on the weekends is the best time.

The Holidays, though, are great because everyone leaves town so the streets tend to be empty.

When I was young, I would purposely take walks by way of short cuts and back alleys to avoid seeing people. It gave me the impression that I was the only person around.

But I must add here, I liked the fact that I could walk by an open window and hear a radio or a muted conversation, or off in the distance I could hear a train rolling by.

How interesting that decades later I would be photographing such scenes.

I know, I know, perhaps I should see a therapist. Actually I did but there were no inroads made on this particular subject.

Just think, if there were, Elgin Park might not exist!

Now that's a scary thought.

One of Lake State Railway's new road slug sets is seen through the window of what remains of the scale house in the old D&M yard at Alpena.

This is my final image (for now) from a new project, with hodachrome (he is a genius with an LC-A so check him out!). This film swap was based around the "EBS" technique (exposed both sides): we shot a roll of film on the "normal" side, and when finished the film was then reversed and rewound, so that the second exposure was shot on the "wrong" side. When shooting on the reverse side, the image is "red-scaled" - all colours become shades of red. With this first roll, hodachrome shot his favorite view from Midland Square's observatory in Nagoya city, then I shot on the "redscale" side at Shoreham Harbour, just outside Brighton. I spoke with the guy on the boat, who informed me it was 120 years old. With this shot I like the patchwork mix of normal and red-scale colour.

The night sky was lit up by the big arc lamps, beckoning people to finish up their chores and head out to the fair grounds.

This is a slightly stylized view of the past.

More of a mood piece than an exact recreation.

The only light source is a 60 watt bulb in front of the models and aimed up at the background.

The background consists of a piece of board with gray textured paint sprayed on it and is about a foot away from the actual set.
