The ice pick plays a crucial part in the story because it brings down the helicopter, being thrown into the tail rotor, so we built it in all three scales, 1/7, 1/4 and 1/2 scale.

Scale ModelWorld 2019 - Telford

Scale cars such as this were used to weigh materials - such as coke - which were then deposited into the furnace. The two buckets (known as hoppers) on the front of the car would be weighed by the car's operator in the cab. The cab would then travel to the number 5 Bessemer furnace at Cleveland ironworks and unload it's content to continue the metallurgic process. This scale car was used extensively throughout the latter half of the 20th century until the closure of the Teesside plant in the 1980's

This is a 1:100 scale model of a Commercial Space Station, which we were commissioned to build in 2019. The model features a variety of customized modules, stowage facilities, an airlock, an observatory, a robotic arm and a main solar array. The model is accompanied with replicas of the SpaceX Dragon and Boeing CST-100 supply ships. Later we are going to add to this set a replica of the SpaceX Dragon 2 as well. The model also includes several posed astronaut figurines, designed and customized for us by Mr. Max Grueter.

The model was designed in 3D software, produced by rapid prototyping and manually assembled, painted and decorated.

In this model we implemented the features and technics developed for our models of ISS, which we were building and perfecting since 2008. The model has reliable internal reinforcement system, holding the modules together. Most vulnerable elements are produced from durable materials – metal and nylon. Selected components and supply ships’ replicas have embedded magnets, allowing to reconfigure the station and exercise various docking schemes. The model is mounted with support poles on a black painted base.

The model is designed to be partially disassembled during transport. It is packed in a Pelican heavy duty transit case and can be fast and easily assembled for presentation.

This is a 1:16 scale model of M-ATV MRAP vehicle, featuring a set of Electronic Equipment and a replica of the M153 "CROWS" Remote Weapon Station. It is built for trade shows, exhibits and presentations and further promoting our line of trade show models in 1:16 scale.

In order to reduce the model's cost we used a pre-fabricated replica of a base M-ATV, which we upgraded and reinforced so it could withstand a stress of often travels and handling. A standard cargo compartment was modified to accommodate the equipment. The equipment and the Weapon Station were designed in 3D software and produced by rapid prototyping out of increased durability plastics. The model was assembled and finished manually, mounted on a black painted composite base with a clear protective cover and packed in a military grade Pelican transit case with a customized foam lining.

The model was appreciated for its quality, accuracy, high level of details and speedy production. Shortly after submission the model traveled to its first trade show, the 2019 IDEX in Abu Dhabi, where it received recognition and most positive feedback.

My own weight went already 2.5kg down since Dec.27th. Though, it may be one of those scales that lie.

Something relatively quick and simple tonight. The Good Smile Company 1/8 scale Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society Motoko Kusunagi PVC statue.

Wow that's a mouthful.

Solid State Society is a feature length movie that is set in the Stand Alone Complex series. I've never seen it, but I have noticed a general consistency of the way Motoko looks in all of my Stand Alone Complex figures, and it pretty much comes to some variation of her light grey catsuit.

Now, I, as usual, bought this off a seller from a classified ad, in this case for $50. What I'm trying to figure out is just how rare this piece is because the aftermarket prices, both on eBay and Japanese sites, have this priced at something absolutely insane, I don't know if it was because the statue of was underproduced, or maybe this was the only version of her from this particular series.

Motoko is depicted in a relatively static pose - she's standing with visor in one hand and the other hand on her outward hip, with a half open trenchcoat slightly billowing in the wind and an attentive gaze. This was released in 2007 and 2009, so it was one of the statues that was around when I was generally more active in the PVC world. and I have to say that The Major looks fantastic.

There are some subtle fabric folds on her suit and the trench coat. Casting came out sharply. There's not a dull edge or non eye pleasing detail in sight. Hair and face are adequately sculpted, and her curves are very crisp, and personally I feel its a shame half of her is covered up by her coat. Subtle detaling such as the lines on her suit aren't too bad, though not quite as crisp as the other stuff on the body. There's no webbing between the fingers, and each digit is well defined. The visor also is nice and crisp, with no poor edges observed. There's also some body definition that you'll appreciate more with the lighting coming in from JUST the right angle.

Paint work is as solid as anything you'd get these days. Smooth crisp applications and excellent masking work, along with well printed and applied decals. Of course, these are the guys who make Figma and I've generally been pretty happy with their work.

Finally Build Quality is, once again, what I'd expect from Good Smile Company. No glue residue or poor assembled parts that make you question your sanity. This is an older statue, however, and was made before industry wide standards to stop using soft plastics on sections of the body that are prone to bending. In this case, I found that her ankles had bent slightly, causing her to lean forward. Fortunately, a bit of hot water and some elbow grease allowed the situation to be rectified.

In conclusion, a very nicely painted statue of Motoko that shows off her beautiful character design without being overtly sexual, which is usually the sweet spot for me because it means I don't have to hide it from display. The only real problem is the leaning which was an industry wide thing.

So if you're a Ghost in the Shell fan and can find this at a price that doesn't give you acid reflux, just go for it.

This railtrack scale is located at Kepa Zawadowska in Warsaw enroute to the EC Siekierki heat- and powerplant. It is built into the track and measures the weight of 4-axle cars, which bring coal to EC Siekierki. The speed at the scale must be reduced to 3 to 5 km/h max. to allow proper operation. The length of the measuring track is exactly to match the Eaos/Eas railcars' length.

The weird exposure was inadvertent, but it is fine with me. The weight, from a heavy agricultural scale, is actually dark, rusty brown. I did the orange dots with pastel.
