At this point the plant was put with a heated grow mat.

First leaves that were stuck in the stem.

They had to be cut out to loosen them.

This released some pressure on the stem enabling the tender first leaves push past the obstruction

These scales are not contemporaneous to Wilson, but they were donated by Ron Day, who was a reference librarian at the Library for over 30 years.

To give some idea about the measures of the original paintings. From the archives.

Scales

Circa 1950's...

a close up of the top of the scale - I'm assuming it also used to give you your horoscope, since you are instructed to put the coin in the slot opposite the month you were born.

Pictures from the sheep market outside Marjane, a chain grocery store in Rabat. Each family buys one sheep to have ritually slaughtered on the first day of Eid al-Adha, which was on December 1st this year in Morocco. Sheep are sold by weight; these ones seemed to average about $230. Here a sheep identified by an interested customer has been placed in the blue bucket and then on to the scale to be weighed and priced.

The window arches didn't phase the signwriter, good work!

I've been needing a coal hopper unit train to serve the coke ovens (that don't exist yet) and I've found one. Yes they are trix longitudinal hoppers, got these five for $30 bucks on ebay.

If you dare tilt the scales of justice....well you can go inside apparently.

Again, why bother looking at this one if you don't look at it large on Black.

Lots of potential for sliding through this section. Luckily no falling rocks from above during the entire traverse.

I dry brushed 4 different shades of blue and turquoise on to the platter, I then painted scales to cover the top.
