Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Moscow. Built in 1837-1883, destroyed in 1931, restored in 1994-1999.

I noticed a pretty arrangement of slightly wilting white flowers on a table by the entrance to the St Saviour Church and moved it to take a better picture of it.

Yes, I put it back afterwards.

Luke 2 "...behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

The Hungarian State Railway is choking itself on poor maintenance and a shortage of carriages this summer.

Intercity trains running with 1-2 fewer coaches than planned, shunting diesel locomotives pulling "express" trains instead of mainline diesel are a daily theme now.

In the suburbs of Budapest, on the last non-electrified line, number 142 passenger capacity was greatly reduced with the summer timetable stepping into play.

Already within a few days, MÁV realised that passengers commuting to work did not magically disappear with the start of the summer school holiday, and so the larger locomotive-hauled trainsets were put back into circulation on the line.

With driving trailer 102's running permits expiring, a replacement was in need, so in the recent days freshly renovated 141 arrived from Debrecen.

In the case of the poor class Sr2 electric locomotive and the type Sm3 EMU, the winter has finally gotten its grip from the two. Fortunately, the indestructible class Sr1 has come to help as the saviour in the freeze pulls the doomed couple to Jyväskylä.b

Barak & Deborah (Cathedral of Christ the Saviour)

In this picture, there are BILLIONS of midgies (1-1.5mm biting flies) just dying to dine out on your blood. For that reason, Sandwood Bay in July is a near suicidal place to choose for wild camping. However, COVID restrictions prevented the usual week in June for the last 30 years, leaving that the only option.

Fortunately for most of the time, the wind blew strongly from north, then south, then west. On the one evening when stillness descended, the clouds of dementors filling the grasslands rose up intent on revenge. I had not appreciated that despite previous belief, smoke from a fire will not save you when they have not eaten in days, even if you are standing over the smoky fire.

The westerly saviour also swirled through the sea of maram grass and provided some interest on a dull wet day.

I owe my peace and freedom to two people in SL who really went out their way to help me take steps to become a stronger person. Strong enough to break free of toxic chains that almost destroyed me. For that they have my eternal loyalty and respect.

Pretty was the first who found me and through her, I was able to leave behind a very vicious cycle. My beloved daughter, she has stood by me when even those who had known me far longer, betrayed my faith.

I will always be here for you. We got out a terrible situation together, and we saved each other when we took a big courageous risk in leaving behind everything we'd known, to find a new home. We defied all the odds and everyone who doubted us. We made mistakes but we changed for the better, Most of all, we took control of our own fates.

Thank you for caring for me and for everything you've done for my sake ❤

~The night is deafening when the silence is listening,

And I'm down on my knees, and I know that something is missing.

Because the back of my mind is holding things I'm relying in,

But I choose to ignore it because I'm always denying them.

I'm a bit of a manic when it's not as I plan it,

'Cause I start losing my head and then I get up in a panic,

Remember when we were kids and always knew when to quit it,

Are we denying a crisis or are we scared of admitting it?

I don't want to know.

I just want to run to you,

And break off the chains, and throw them away,

I just want to be so much,

And shake off the dust that turned me to rust,

Sooner than later, I'll need a saviour, I'll need a saviour.

It won't ever change if you want it to stay the same,

I really hate it but I know it's hard to choose if you're chained,

And when it's all you control 'cause you've got nothing else to hold,

You're getting tighter and tighter, it's getting harder to let it go.

I don't want to know...

I just want to run to you,

And break off the chains, and throw them away,

I just want to be so much,

And shake off the dust that turned me to rust,

Sooner than later, I'll need a saviour,

I'll need a saviour.

Stand me up and maybe I won't be so small,

Free my hands and feet and maybe I won't always fall,

Save me.

I just want to run to you,

And break off the chains, and throw them away,

I just want to be so much,

And shake off the dust that turned me to rust,

I just want to run to you,

And break off the chains and throw them away,

I just want to be so much,

And shake off the dust that turned me to rust,

Sooner than later, I'll need a saviour,

I'll need a saviour~

Храм Христа Спасителя / Москва / Moscow / モスクワ

Christ the Saviour Cathedral which was first built in 1882 and took more than 40 years to build. It was later destroyed in 1931 on the order of the Soviet leader, Joseph Stalin to make way for a Palace of the Soviets. Construction of the palace started in 1937 but was halted in 1941 when the Germans invaded the Soviets during WWII. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the cathedral was rebuilt between 1995 and 2000.

A tomb within Ely Cathedral.

Dedicated to @renatomarozzi, my father and brilliant general fighter pilot, who flew away to save us.

St Saviour’s is a small chapel situated in the hamlet of Stydd just outside Ribchester. It is a remnant of a Knights Templar establishment. The chapel is a simple rectangular shaped building, dating back to the mid 12th century and dedicated to St Saviour. It was beautiful to see in the early morning sunlight and an extremely peaceful place and feel about it, we couldn’t go inside as it was locked, but as it was in a huge field with a working farm at the rear it could be difficult to keep an eye on it, and sadly that is a fact of life these days.

Victorian Stained glass in the parish church of St Michael, Bray, Berkshire. This window depicts Christ Saviour of the World (centre), flanked by St Peter (left) and St Paul (right). It is the work of Lavers & Barraud and dates from 1863. It is dedicatd to Charlotte Hibbert

So continuing my adventures into astrophotography and specifically "deep sky" with this view of the Andromeda Galaxy M31. This is a massive step up from my first attempt to capture our close neighbour (its only 2.537 million light years away!). Also in view are M32 and M110 dwarf galaxies.

Not ideal conditions with a first quarter moon and moderate light polution. Looking forward to a new moon next time maybe. So grateful for all those youtube videos on set up and editing. They are invaluable to a newbie like me.

If you have read down to here thank you. I'll reward you with the image specifics! Tracking is with a modified Sky Watcher Star Adventurer. Access to the church is through the Lych Gate from the path by the main road.

A church for the parish poor, built in 1848. This magnificent Victorian church was built in a fabulously ornate medieval style and was intended for the poor of the parish, who could not afford to pay for seats in Tetbury's other church, St Mary's.,

St Saviour's is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.
