The Utah Commercial and Savings Bank Building, at 22 East 100 South in Salt Lake City, Utah, was designed by Richard K.A. Kletting and was built in 1888. Also known as the Village Brownstone Building, it is a Richardsonian Romanesque style building.[1]

It is important for its architecture and for its association with its architect, Richard K.A. Kletting, and with the founder of the Utah Commercial and Savings Bank, Francis Armstrong.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975

The Buffalo Savings Bank is a historic building in Buffalo, New York, USA. Constructed between 1899 and 1901, it is a prominent example of Beaux-Arts architecture. It was designed by architect Edward B. Green. The building served as the bank's headquarters until the 1970s, with its most notable feature being the gilded dome that crowns the structure. In 1976, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Due to its elegance and iconic dome, it is one of Buffalo's most recognizable landmarks. Today, it is known as the Goldome or Gold Dome Bank. In the late 20th century, the building was restored and repurposed for commercial and office use, adapting to new functions while retaining its original grandeur.

Last night marked the end of Daylight Savings Time. Most leaves are now gone, the sun is low on the horizon, and there is a definite chill in the air. A Local meteorologist gave his winter forecast this week and predicted a return to the polar vortex of a couple of years ago with biting cold and serious snowfall. But not today. Not yet, at least.

The original Párisi Udvar (Parisian Court) was built in Budapest 100 years ago as a department store. From 1909, the City Savings Bank occupied the site, which was developed by German architect Henrik Schmahl. The arcade is two stories high, with a vaulted roof made of coloured glass and a striking hexagonal glass dome designed by Miksa Róth. The crystal glass domes of the passage create a special atmosphere. The floors have beautiful mosaic tiles, and there are balconies, and windows with bar tracery, pediments, and sculptures. You can also see reliefs of bees, symbolizing thrift, a reference to the bank that commissioned the construction. Henrik Schmahl sure wasn't in a thrifty mood when he created this masterpiece.

The building is now part of the unbound collection by Hyatt, and the passage is open to the public.

The Worcester Five Cents Savings Bank is a historic bank building at 316 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. The six story Romanesque Revival building was constructed in 1891 to a design by Stephen Earle. The building is unusual in downtown Worcester for its use of limestone and buff brick, and for its rounded corner bay. The building originally had plate glass and iron store fronts on its ground floor (the bank occupying the second floor), but this was redone in matching limestone sometime after 1949.

The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978,[1] and included in the Mechanics' Hall District in 1980. It served as the corporate headquarters of Chess King during the 1980s. It now houses a handful of professional service firms 229

With open light fading fast at 17:40, BNSF 7620 charges across Highway 4 and into Hercules leading two other GEs on a Saturday H-BARRIC. With the shift back to PST last night and daylight getting shorter, it'll be well past sunset at this hour until next spring.

Not much daylight to save this time of year. This view made me stop on the way to work and break out the camera.

The extra hour of sleep was great, but the light being dead-on the train at Squaw Brook.... well I guess another winter upon us here in Maine. CP 142 with a friendly crew and decent train rumbles on the northern outskirts of Greenville area. The train has since gone to a 5-day schedule as container ships took a long break until end of this month before a double header at Saint John 11/27 and 12/2. Surely that'll push them back to 7 days a week... or completely mess them up.
