Ukraine - Irpin, July the 5th 2022.
The city of Irpin was attacked by Russian forces earlier this year around February in attempt to take Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. In this brutal assault 290 civilian victims were murdered - a disproportionate number of these victims were women. There are multiple accounts of civilians talking about hearing the screams of Ukranians being executed by Russians, forced to stay in basements without food or water for days.
Civilians would talk to me about hearing the constant sounds of artillery being fired near their homes, looking outside on your once normal road to see Russian armoured vechiles and invaders seeking blood trying to capture Ukranians capital.
Although Irpin has been relatively safe since the invasion, people would talk to me about the constant fear of another invasion, how the sound of strong wind makes them anxious at the thought of a bombing, how everything has changed, and how nothing will ever be the same.
