We live in a fast world.

We love to have a fast life.

But is nature following us? Is it adaptable to our ever changing needs?

When we are going to look back at mother nature?

When we hear her call for sustainable development?

A Sunday morning on Riverside

Tirumala limniace, the blue tiger, is a butterfly found in South Asia and Southeast Asia that belongs to the crows and tigers, that is, the danaid group of the brush-footed butterfly family. This butterfly shows gregarious migratory behaviour in southern India. In general, all butterflies can directly absorb heat from the sun via their wings to facilitate autonomous flight. Studies on blue tiger butterflies show that high-intensity light significantly increased flight activity. Blue tiger butterflies have a wing surface color that is composed of both light and dark colors. The dark areas on the wing surfaces are the heat absorption areas that allow for the facilitation of autonomous flight.

Close up of a leaf...

It's hot, but not as hot as it was late last month. Still, the humidity is quite vexing on those engaged in vigorous outdoor activity. There is no doubt that the dog days do harden the soul as we're all marked with fire underneath this unnerving sun. Not quite as hot as coals, but our bare feet remain spoiled by the shaded grass where the serpents are likely sleeping.

Purple & Silver

A wonderful evening spent watching silver~studded blues dance among the bursting heather.

The Silver-studded has an amazing relationship with black ants. The female butterfly will lay her eggs close to a black ant's nest. As the teeny caterpillars begin to hatch, the ants will carry them inside the nest chambers. The ants benefit from the sugary substances the caterpillars produce. As the adult butterflies begin to emerge, the ants can be seen swarming over them offering protection as they wait for their wings to dry - how cool is that

I was so chuffed to photograph this beautiful male roosting on some heather. I love the colours

A beautiful Hairy Dragonfly

Scientific Name: Brachytron pratense

Found grounded on the pavement on a busy road - likely collided with a vehicle. I scooped him up carefully, he sat on my hand the whole 2 mile walk past busy roads, until we reached the fields at the end of my road. Where he is now safely resting in a secret spot. I'm just hoping he flies away soon (I will check on him later)

Such incredible vibrant colours.

The smallest, hairiest Hawker that emerges in May. They were once a very rare species in the UK, found only on the most pristine grazing marshes & wetlands 💚

"The light of all the not yet stars

Drifting like a bright mist..."

A beautiful make common blue. Finally after weeks of searching in my field, i finally find one - few weeks later than usual. But better late than never.
