I have been silent on much of social media due to big projects, but I must break the silence for this post. What is happening in Ukraine at the moment deserves the attention of every person on the planet, and more than that, action. The war crimes being committed by Putin’s Russia are not only traumatizing the entire Ukrainian population, they are designed to evoke terror. With the actions over the past week, Russia has become a Terrorist State, the most powerful such entity in the world.

We can apply all of the sanctions, and as a result the Russian Oligarchy is putting pressure on Putin. Russian citizens are being arrested by the thousands for protesting in the streets. None of this is deterring any forward advance. These measures alone, at least in the short term, are not enough – and every day matters for the sovereignty of Ukraine.

I have friends in Ukraine, and distant family. My paternal heritage is Ukrainian; In 1903, Andreas Komaryczka emigrated from a small village outside of Lviv to settle his family in Canada. My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people, redefining the definition of heroism by their actions. The world is watching, and I am amazed by the outpouring of support from governments across all continents.

I now live in Eastern Europe. The other day we went for a walk on the beach. I stared out across the Black Sea, knowing what conflicts were unfolding on the other side. This is not a defense of Ukraine, but a fight against a tyrannical autocracy. Ask the citizens of Georgia, Syria, Chechnya, Moldova, Ukraine and other nearby nations. This must stop, as it is spreading.

How can we help? Understandable that NATO doesn’t want direct involvement, as the severity of global escalation evokes the term “mutually assured destruction”. It may still be necessary, but there are other ways you can help – as an average everyday person. Here are my thoughts:

-Pressure your local government officials. More support for Ukraine, sure, but also lessen the burden for refugees to enter your country. If you have a Ukrainian community center, ask them what they need. We will be donating supplies for refugees that end up in Bulgaria later this week at a local Ukrainian centre.

-Directly donate to Ukraine. There are a number of ways to do this, through organizations like this ( savelife.in.ua/en/donate/ ) which can help fund the military and surrounding support structures. This doesn’t always mean supplying weapons. Many countries have offered direct funding to Ukraine, and guess what? The government of Ukraine has increased the salary of everyone in the armed forces as a result. They have also offered money to Russians who voluntarily lay down their arms on Ukrainian soil. If you have any cryptocurrency, I think now’s a great time to donate some. You can find the appropriate wallet addresses with an easy search of Ukraine’s verified social media channels.

-Share your thoughts. Peacefully protest. Show your support in every way possible for the people of Ukraine.

The general sense I hear from the “boots on the ground” from the Russian invaders is extremely low morale. A naval battle was called off against Odessa because the crews refused to fight (Odessa has the largest number of Russian-speaking citizens of any city in Ukraine. It was also incredibly well defended.). There have been reports of self-sabotage of Russian military equipment. It’s not going well for Russia at the moment, but remember that their military forces profoundly outweigh that of Ukraine’s.

Let’s not forget to put a spotlight on the tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens living abroad that have returned to their home country to fight. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, should also be praised for his determination to fight alongside his people. The Ukrainian armed forces have more women than any other nation on the planet, and citizens of all ages, genders, and professions are taking up arms. Heroes are being made every day. Lives are also being lost in the process.

In the end, one thing is certain: the soul of Ukraine cannot be broken. Even if an occupying force takes control, the civil unrest and international support will mean that Ukraine will survive and eventually push out the Russians. The sooner that happens the better.

My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people. I will support you in every way I am able to. One of the reasons we moved to Bulgaria was the sense of safety that is afforded when the world is a “global village”. I will not stand for that safety being eroded. To everyone in Ukraine: keep fighting the good fight. To every citizen of Russia that knows their government is on the wrong side of humanity, if you all rose up you would be an unstoppable force.

This image is a sunflower. Under ultraviolet light, a sunflower’s colours become much more diverse and vibrant – adding blue to the yellow, among other colours. The national colours of Ukraine hidden within their most symbolic flower. Slava Ukraini!

We dream that this war horror will end and we will return to our lives.

Ukraine is still in a terrible war. Every day russian missiles bomb our cities. Our citizens are being killed every day. This pain cannot be expressed in words. This wound will never heal.

Now we are defending as best we can. If you want to help - you can donate to Ukrainian volunteers:

When you live in a war, you begin to understand the hippies of the 60's. You just want to enjoy the sun, hug flowers, live under a peaceful sky.

We used to live like that. We did not want this war. Russia has insidiously attacked us and now wants to destroy us.

Now, we must fight for a peaceful life.

I believe that light will overcome darkness and we will be able to enjoy flowers and life again.

Life in form of a small plant on Earth. Save Plant Save Life Save Earth

Today is February 23, 2023, the eve of the first year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

I'm marking the brutal anniversary by making a donation to support Ukraine's fight against the Russian bastards.

This marks the 16th donation I've made to Ukraine since February 2022.

It's the start of a new billing cycle of my credit card, so I made my monthly donation to support Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!

When I'm dead, perhaps they can inscribe on my tombstone "Small-time financier of the Ukrainian army during the Russian invasion".

If anyone else is interested in supporting the Ukrainian army, please consider donating to:

I thought President Biden was being weak in his administration's support for Ukraine. Well, President Trump is most certainly a puppet of Putin.

Ukraine needs my little help more than ever.

Euro 400 this November, 2025.

Russians blow up dam in my country today. It would lead to approximately 500k people without access to drinking water, destruction of agriculture and unknown number of casualties. Here is some summary as for today. Please donate to grassroot Ukrainian initiatives, foundations like 'comeback alive', for international organisations today I can only advice World Central Kitchen, since Red Cross and Amnesty is essentially useless.

I made my 6th overall donation to help Ukraine, which was the 4th time that I've sent money to savelife.in.ua / comebackalive.in.ua

Many of you know that I have a flickr friend www.flickr.com/photos/uav2014 in Ukraine, and I promised him that I'd help Ukraine to defeat Putin for as long as Ukraine is fighting the invading Russians.

www.comebackalive.in.ua/

I'm delighted that the Comebackalive.in.ua web site payment system is working. Last month (June 2022) I wasn't able to make my monthly donation, so I re-directed my effort to the humanitarian side. This month, I'm directing my entire donation (USD $336) to support the Ukrainian army. This is my 12th donation to help Ukraine since just before the war began in February 2022.

If anyone is interested in supporting the Ukrainian army, please consider donating to Comebackalive.in.ua (also known as "Savelife.in.ua":

I promised my Ukrainian friend Anatoly www.flickr.com/photos/uav2014 that I’d financially support the people of Ukraine, and to the people helping the people of Ukraine, until the Russian invaders are defeated.

Here is how you can support Ukraine -- if you want to.

www.comebackalive.in.ua/

I’ve made my 5th financial donation to Ukraine since before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Three donations were made to "savelife.in.ua" (now known in English as "comebackalive.in.ua").

www.comebackalive.in.ua/

One donation was made to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation's humanitarian appeal, and one donation to the Canadian Red Cross' Ukrainian appeal.

If the Russian KGB places me on their hit list, I won't be surprised.

This is the 15th month since Russia's invasion 2.0 of Ukraine (beyond Crimea). Now is not the time to forget about Ukraine.

The 15th month of Russian brutality is marked by my 15th monthly donation to support Ukraine financially.

USD $330

You may recall that I mentioned that I have a flickr friend in Ukraine. I asked him shortly before the Russian invasion if I could help him to get out, or help Ukraine to prepare for the war. He said he didn't want to leave his country, and would fight the invaders if war broke out. He suggested that I donate money to savelife.in.ua (also known as Comebackalive.in.ua).

So I made a couple of donations before Russia actually launched the brutal war against Ukraine.

Ukraine needs help more than ever. And since the U.S. is not committed to helping Ukraine to fight Russia anymore, I'm making my donations in Euro instead of the U.S. Dollar from now on.

Now you can follow me not only on flickr and facebook but also on behance :D So check out my behance account, follow me there, and give big support! :D Big Thanks for everyone who likes my work :D

I realized that somehow, I missed sending money to Ukraine in September 2025 to help the war effort. So here I'm making a catch-up donation in early November for the missed September donation.

This was actually the donation to support Ukraine on 2023-03-26. I made a donation to Franky & Coen, who are a Dutch street snack truck duo heading to Ukraine to give the war victims free food. But that was a special donation, this one to Savelife.in.ua is the regular monthly donation for March.

Soon I'd make the April donation.

Slava Ukraini!

It's the middle of the month and a new billing cycle for my credit card. It's become a habit for me to make two monthly donations to stand with Ukraine, to fight for freedom and humanity, and to support the many people, organizations and nations helping Ukraine.

This donation helps Ukraine's army to buy supplies. Every month I also make a separate donation to the humanitarian effort.

Many of you know that I have a flickr friend www.flickr.com/photos/uav2014 in Ukraine, and I promised him that I'd help Ukraine to defeat Putin for as long as Ukraine is fighting the invading Russians.

I've had a bit of a health issue, and things are just super busy. My October donation to Ukraine was delayed till now. Also, the Canadian economic outlook is poor, and our Dollar is at a multi-year low against a basket of foreign currencies. I can only afford USD $300 for Ukraine this month.

Water crisis is one of the major issues that the world is facing and it is the responsibility, perhaps the duty of each one of us to contribute towards water management. Intelligent utilisation of water resources is the need of the hour.

Live .. Let Live

BANKIMCHANDRA, A visionary poet, in our national song ‘Vande Mataram’, salutes the prosperity of our motherland and its rich natural resources and plentiful water. Yet, India and in large our world is facing the problem of water since many years. The future of the world is under threat due to water crisis.

There is water crisis today but the crisis is not about having too little water to fulfil our needs, it is a crisis of managing water so poorly that billions of people, animals, birds and the environment suffer badly.

It's time for my monthly donation to fight Putin and Xi and all their cronies.

Ukraine is not doing well lately and I couldn't decide if I should support their military, humanitarian causes or on a more "street level" support. I decided to give to all three:

1) to the military via Savelife.in.ua

2) to humanitarian causes via Canada-Ukraine Foundation

3) to ordinary Ukrainian citizens via Dutch food truck duos Franky en Coen, who periodically drive their food truck all the way from the Netherlands to Ukraine to distribute free comfort food

We need to save our resources so that it is available for the next generation to use.

Springtime is tax time in Canada. When I calculated my tax owing, it was much bigger than I had expected. I had to pay the taxman first to avoid interest charges, so my May 2025 donation had to be delayed till early June. Now that it's past my credit card's billing cycle, I won't have to pay for this donation until mid-late-July. Just a bit of liquidity management to make sure I have the cash to fully pay off my credit card spending every month.

Two weeks late, but not forgotten.

Ukraine's massive drone attack on Russian's air force this past week (June 2025) is a rare good news on the Ukrainian side lately.

Слава Україні! Slava Ukraini!

Human beings have a responsibility to take care of this planet. As guardians of nature, one can follow these simple tasks to help preserve this world for the next generation.

1. Switch all incandescent bulbs to the more energy efficient CFL bulbs

2. Plant vegetables in the backyard and eat locally grown foods. Since most prepackaged food is driven hundreds if not thousands of miles to arrive at your local grocery store.

3. Recycle. If your local garbage disposal service does not offer recycling, insist and petition neighbors to add such a vital eco-friendly initiative.

4 .Drink tap water. It is just as healthy and safe to drink tap water in the United States as it is bottled water. Tap water even has stricter regulations as it is regulated by the EPA, versus the FDA regulating bottled water. Not to mention the fact bottled water is extremely heavy and uses tons of oil to transport it across country via 18 wheelers.

5. Become proactive. If you walk past garbage, pick it up and threw it away next to the garbage can that is probably five feet away.

6. Register for e-statements, it saves gas and trees. Also pay bills online and email instead of writing letters.
