Saturated Saturday Sensations. Just playing around a bit in Picasa with this picture from my archives. I am taking a quick break from doggie duty and laundry, I am going to start visiting all of your beautiful pictures now :) Happy Saturday!

À l'origine, le panama se fabriquait exclusivement en feuilles de bombanaxa, mais cette matière fragile fut abandonnée avec la popularisation mondiale du chapeau.
La matière première utilisée est la feuille de Carludovica palmata, appelée paja toquilla, une espèce de palmiers poussant en Équateur. Les Équatoriens préfèrent parler de sombrero fino de paja toquilla plutôt que de panama. Après la récolte, les cœurs de palmes sont transportés à dos de mulets jusqu’aux villages, où la palme est divisée en fibres fines. Il existe deux traitements de la fibre : à Cuenca, la paille est bouillie pour éliminer la chlorophylle alors qu'à Montecristi, elle est séchée au soleil et blanchie à la fumée de soufre. Puis les artisans procèdent au tissage qui peut durer jusqu'à huit mois.
En 2009, l'Institut équatorien de la propriété intellectuelle reconnaît l'appellation d'origine contrôlée du panama. En 2012, l'Unesco l'inscrit au patrimoine culturel immatériel de l'humanité.

For Smile on Saturday, taken almost a couple of years ago when I actually made an effort to get outside to capture a sunrise. This week I was hoping to be lazy and get a shot from the bedroom window, but no luck, it's been too grey when I have remembered to look out.
It is rare to see a blue sky these days in The New Forest.

Saturday Self Challenge Egg/s
Having completed an egg challenge last week, with a focus on post-processing, I reverted to a very simple monotone image for this one. It still took many tries to get this image of just one egg!

In "The Little Prince", the fifth planet visited by the little hero is very small. "There was just enough room on it for a street lamp and a lamplighter. The little prince was not able to reach any explanation of the use of a street lamp and a lamplighter, somewhere in the heavens, on a planet which had no people, and not one house." The planet has been turning faster and faster, and the poor lamplighter now has to light the street lamp and turn it off every minute. The little Prince leaves the planet, thinking that he could have made friends with the lamplighter, but that the planet is too small for two people. The chapter concludes: "What the little prince did not dare confess was that he was sorry most of all to leave this planet, because it was blest every day with 1440 sunsets!"
The picture is from a beautiful contemporary ballet piece in which the ballerinas in orange dresses represented the flames from the lamp. It was danced on this gorgeous music:
