with a lenght of 33/38cm this is the biggest south african bee eater and obviously it's specialized an medium/big targets like this very big dragonfly

En el mundo hay algunos que no saben nada y estudian para saber, y estos tienen buenos deseos y vano ejercicio, porque al cabo solo les sirve el estudio de conocer cómo toda la verdad la quedan ignorando. Y como gente que en cosas de letras y sciencias no tiene que perder tampoco, se atreven a imprimir y sacar a luz todo cuanto sueñan. Estos dan qué hacer a las emprentas, sustentan a los libreros, gastan a los curiosos, y al cabo sirven a las especierías.

Almost done, you can see the tail a bit yet, but there is no "You should see the one that got away" story to this montage. It was an interesting and compelling view of nature!
At last I managed to get shots of the young swallows being fed. Previous attempts were curtailed by dull weather, fence posts and a car tooting behind me as I was blocking the road

Atticus sure loves it here..fresh mountain air, a new ball and just being outdoors. In his opinion, no comparison to our city living when we aren't here.

My dog very satisfied after drinking virgin water of a little hill we climbed at July on our holidays. It was a hot day so we decided to climb the hill to get a bit of that delicious and refreshing water. It was very tasty!

Hi, Me again...
In April 2021, I received my first 35mm as a gift from a fellow photography enthusiast. I seriously had no idea what I was doing but I immeditely knew I enjoyed it. The sound alone was enough to give me shivers!! Since then, I have shot a few rolls of film, find myself in possession of 5 new cameras, managed to process 2 rolls at home, 'scan', and now I'm ready to put them out there.
I don't ever profess to be a perfect photographer. If fact, I'm usually incredibly insecure. Digital photography always had me seeking perfection. It is silly because life isn't perfect, but regardless, I feared things like proper exposure and unconventional subjects. (Yes....insert eye roll here!)
The thing about film though, it has given me freedom it be imperfect, appreciate 'flaws' and embrace everyday life in an authentic and unpolished way. Film has given me permission to love the imperfect and see it for all its beauty. Also, the fact that my hands are on it from start to finish....well that... that alone gives me immense satisfaction.
So.....I'm saying be ready for the perfectly imperfect. And just to prove it...I resisted the urge to edit out my chicken pox scars. :-) I'm going to be brave and start sharing what I've been working on and what I love.

A waterbird and a member of the rail and Crake family, this is a large bird around 40-45 cms long and weighing half a kilo or more. They are quite large compared to the other waterbirds here, but they are so impossible to sight in the green fields where they reside. They are easily identified by the frontal red shield and calls.
The birds stick to the foot long grass in the countryside and hence very hard to spot - any sighting in our region is considered rare. I had sighted this bird many times, but just could manage a distant poor shot.
But last weekend, on an open riverside road surrounded by grass and fields, several males were calling out and flying from one side of the road to the other. I was lucky to be able to get some shots of the bird much to my satisfaction. This one is a male, the female is more brownish in color.
