I tracked Coyote as he prowled along the edge of a placid little stream, then reacted when he decided to jump across. What an optimist! A moment later he was wet and muddy. Didn't lose his cool, though. Coyote is the epitome of cool.

The forest fire smoke was thick in South West Saskatchewan, but it made for some nice photo opportunities.

What I like about Saskatchewan is that when a farmer pulls you out from being stuck on the road, he will point you where to go for a nice picture. Tonight's sunset, after getting unstuck.

A tornado churns along the countryside of SaskatchewanCanada.

note to self name foals*-* Miska: mist, darkness Nótt: night

There were multiple severe storm and tornado warnings. I find that storms make the best sunsets so I took a walk. The wind came up and there were lots of threats and lightening on the horizon. I particularly enjoy it when mother nature reminds us who is really in charge. When mother nature comes to town I go visit her to pay my regards. I waited for the sunset to develop with blue sky overhead.

Swift Fox in Burgers Desert, a part of Burgers Zoo in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

The Swift or Kit Fox (Vulpes velox) is a small orange-tan fox around the size of a domestic cat found in the western grasslands and deserts of North America, such as Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. It is closely related to the Kit Fox and the two species are sometimes considered subspecies of Vulpes velox because hybrids of the two species occur naturally where their ranges overlap.

Its ears are noticeably large. It is about 30 cm in height, and 80 cm long, measuring from the head to the tip of the tail. Its weight ranges from around 2 to 5 kg.

Males and females are similar in appearance, although males are slightly larger.

Like most canids, the Swift fox is an omnivore, and its diet includes grasses and fruits as well as small mammals, carrion, and insects.

Liberty is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

Late winter on Eagle Butte. Jack rabbit tracks in the snow. Looking north. The sun is low to the west, turning the snow pink while the shadows reflect blue sky: colour contrast, light-dark contrast, warm-cold contrast. It was a cracking cold winter day, minus 30 or colder, and about a 30-minute hike to this spot. I timed my trip for the last two hours of the day to take advantage of magic hour lighting. Longer than that would have been impossible, even dangerous. But I knew the terrain, having hiked in there several times in similar conditions. Tripod, 24mm lens, no filter; the camera was a Nikon F100.

Prince Albert is the third-largest city in Saskatchewan, Canada, after Saskatoon and Regina. It is situated near the center of the province on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. The city is known as the "Gateway to the North" because it is the last major center along the route to the resources of northern Saskatchewan

This is one of our primary impulses, to leave a mark, some form of proof that "I was here". Hand prints have been found - in profusion - on thirty thousand year old cave walls. Mine didn't last that long, but I enjoyed looking at it through my kitchen window for a few days. Val Marie, Saskatchewan.

We're having very mild weather this week and it looks as if the cottonwood buds are running with sap. The deep freeze is coming back, of course, so this is a false start; spring is still two months or so away. Nevertheless, this is good to see. For this shot I used the 105mm macro on a tripod. One small area was slightly out of focus, but I had shot several frames and a slight breeze had shifted the focus, so I was able to lift the sharp portion from another frame and blend it into this one. In my neighbour's backyard, Val Marie, Saskatchewan.

Indian Head, Saskatchewan Canada

Indian Head is a beautiful historic town in southeast Saskatchewan, Canada, 69 kilometres east of Regina. The town is directly north of the Trans-Canada Highway. It had its beginnings in 1882 as the first settlers, mainly of Scottish origin, pushed into the area in advance of the railroad, most travelling by ox-cart from Brandon. The town is known for its federally operated experimental farm and tree nursery, which has produced and distributed seedlings for shelter belts since 1901. For many years the programme was run by the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA).

It was incorporated as a town in 1902. In that year the Canadian Journal, published by James McAra, noted that Indian Head was the largest point of initial shipment of wheat in the world. Today it is run by the Agroforestry Development Centre. Today Indian Head has a range of professional services and tradespeople, financial institutions, and a large number of retail establishments. The television sitcom Little Mosque on the Prairie which aired on CBC Television 2007-12 was filmed in Toronto, Ontario and Indian Head.
