I think in lesser light there would be red venation on the lid; in full sun it looks solid red. Cute!

Sarracenia alata, commonly called the pale pitcher plant or pale trumpet, is a carnivorous, herbaceous perennial native to wet, open habitats of the southeastern United States, particularly from eastern Texas to western Alabama.

Rain persisted during the three hours we explored. Using only my iPhone, wet lenses led to low quality photos, but I wanted to document the few species we saw.
