Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. some B/W is only inevitable :)

What was particularly interesting to me when I saw the Dhamek Stupa which I showed in my previous image (see below) was the beautiful detailed carvings on its surface as seen here.

The Dhamek Stupa, which was built around 500 CE, is said to mark the spot where Buddha gave the first sermon to his first five Brahmin disciples after attaining enlightenment. In its current shape, the stupa is a solid cylinder of bricks and stone reaching a height of 43.6 meters and having a diameter of 28 meters. It is the most massive structure in Sarnath. this is the place where the Buddah made his first speech to 5 disciples, the day we went it was full of Tibetan Monks waiting for the Dalai lama whose visit was due next day. I felt quite emotional yet calm to be there. on top of the hill the silence was loud....

This monk tries to throw a stone as high as possible on the Dhamekh Stupa.

I think this is a special way of worshipping to the Buddha.

He wears a mixture of traditional and modern chlothing

Sarnath is a city located 13 kilometres north-east of Varanasi near the confluence of the Ganges and the Varuna rivers in Uttar Pradesh, India. The deer park in Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna. Singhpur, a village approximately one kilometre away from the site, was the birthplace of Shreyansanath, the Eleventh Tirthankara of Jainism, and a temple dedicated to him, is an important pilgrimage site.

Also referred to as Isipatana, this city is mentioned by the Buddha as one of the four places of pilgrimage to which his devout followers should visit, if they wanted to visit a place for that reason. It was also the site of the Buddha's Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, which was his first teaching after attaining enlightenment, in which he taught the four noble truths and the teachings associated with it.

Last Sunday in Sarnath, a group of Tibetan monks ( two women and two men), were enjoying the sunset in front of the ruins of what was once emperor Ashoka's palace, at a few meters away from the tree where Lord Buddha delivered his sermon to five disciples.

A moment of bliss...

This is an extract from Nirvana by Sri Aurobindo:

"Nirvana"

Only the illimitable Permanent

Is here. A Peace stupendous, featureless, still.

Replaces all, - what once was I, in It

A silent unnamed emptiness content

Either to fade in the Unknowable

Or thrill with the luminous seas of the Infinite.

Ladies help with the on-going Archaeological dig at Sarnath, India.

Archaeological remains of Sarnath are located at north-eastern tip of the city of Varanasi (India).

Sarnath is one amongst the four most sacred places for the Buddhist where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon after attaining enlightenment.

The archaeological significance of the place was first brought to the notice of modern world by Mr. J. Duncan in 1798 who gave an account of the casket of green marble inside a stone box exposed by the workmen of Jagat Singh, the Dewan of King Chet Singh of Benaras while dismantling the Dharmarajika stupa to exploit building materials. Excavations carried out by Archaeological Survey of India on large scale from time to time has revealed a number of monasteries, stupas, temples, inscriptions, sculptures and other antiquities ranging in date from 3rd century B.C. to 12th century A.D.
