Sap dripping from a fur tree.

In order to make syrup. :)

My plants seem totally unaffected by these suckers that literally cover the flower stems of some of them.

As an anthropologist, I am fascinated by houses and the way people use space. So I took a lot of photos of houses while traveling through Cambodia. Along the Tonle Sap River were communities of floating houses. These 'house boats' often have a porch which makes me think of the function of porches on 19th and early 20th Century houses in America.

This is sap seeping out of a plank of wood. Still trying to figure that one out, because it should have been heat treated wood. Oh well. At least it was fun to shoot. :)

(oh, and this was taken in my back yard in direct sunlight.)

The steam that comes out of the shack is the water evaporating from the boiling sap...

This caught my attention glistening in the sun, the end of a sawn off pine log seeping sap. Several little insects have found themselves stuck!

at the end of its icicle. This drop had a taste of subtle sweetness - lovely!

An interesting sight, sap covering where a branch was cut off. I read that this protects the area from being invaded by beetles or other pests. Sap is called the lifeblood of the tree.

I realize this isn't a pretty picture - ;D

another shot from Kampong Phluk village, one of the major access points to the lake. Here a bit further up the shallow stream away from the lake. I like the composition, not bad from a moving boat :)

For more info on the unique ecosystem of the lake please see previous images in the album ☞ along the Mekong

Tree sap from our morning walk in Traralgon Railway Reserve

Tree sap - thought it would make a nice photo because of the colours!

Just because I liked the way the sap was catching the light.

418 322+ 2 Bd

Let not a drop go to waste!

I took some pics of this guy a couple of weeks ago, and couldn't help but take a few more pics to see how well the red was comin' in on her head. Well that, and to test out the AF on the new 5DSR body. And I have to say the AF is spot on, though there are so many new AF capabilities on the new body (not to mention a slew of other new stuff) that it will be some time before I'm fully up to speed.

And since this is a test (this is only a test!), I've made 3 different crops of the same capture (each closer than the next) to see exactly how hard all those megapixels are workin' for me.
