Santorini photos on Flickr

This shot was taken from the northern tip of Santorini in the city of Oia; the dormant volcano (responsible for the formation of Santorini) can be seen in the distance. This panoramic was stiched together using five vertical shots.

Oia is carved out of the cliffs, and visitors can see houses built for Venetian sea captains as well as the more typical "cave houses" of the villagers. You’ll find the pure white buildings with colorful roofs that are typical of Greek architecture.

The classic shot from Oia, I was definitely not the first tourist to shoot it. HUGE crowds, but the walk over from was Thera spectacular and peaceful.

Oia, Santorini (Greece).

Oia remains one of the foremost tourist attractions of the Aegean Sea. The famous Oia sunset, considered by many as one of the most beautiful in the world, keeps tourists flocking down to the castle, waiting for the moment when the sun slips down on the calm sea of the caldera . I'm not sure if it's the most beautiful sunset in the world, but it's among the most beautiful I've seen! =)
