The little man visits the North Pole…

♬ ▶♬

Skippy created his universe with help from Remarkable Oblivion's amazing new Santa’s Workshop Collection!

And and and don't worry, everyone.

I got a sneak peak at Santa's list and you're all on the "nice" side!

So, let's keep lifting one another up, and let's keep shining so bright. Together we make the future bright!

my sister & I visited the Glen Ave firehouse this afternoon

they've put on a great display for 60 years!

"The Americana at Brand" Glendale. California.

In addition to Americana at Brand's upscale shops, restaurants and movie theater, the outdoor mall features Waters of Americana, an animated fountain by WET. The musical fountain, located in the central landscaped park, performs every hour, though a non-musical program runs between shows. A gold-leaf statue, chosen by developer Rick Caruso, rises from the center of the fountain's smaller pool. The statue is a replica of Donald De Lue's 1949 Spirit of American Youth sculpture in France, a memorial to Americans who fought at Normandy in World War II. The statue also serves as the icon for The Americana at Brand.

See the 100-foot Christmas Tree, dancing fountains, holiday melodies and snowfall nightly this holiday season.

An internal transit system uses an electric-powered trolley car (built by the Gomaco Trolley Company) to shuttle visitors through the main square and around the perimeter of the complex.

Got this photo this past Tuesday. There were no lines yet, even though it was after Thanksgiving. I'm sure that has changed now. At least I got the photo before the sky went completely dark.

Legend has it that nestled among the frost-kissed woods, whenever you chance upon a quaint, empty small house with its door ajar, resembling the snug homes of Santa's elves, you've stumbled upon a whimsical gateway to the heart of the North Pole. As you cross the threshold, the air shimmers with the faint jingle of bells, and the space inside transforms into a magical realm of toy-making enchantment. Miniature workbenches cluttered with tinkering tools and scattered glitter lead the way to a bustling workshop where elves, with rosy cheeks and twinkling eyes, work their craft with joyous fervor. The aroma of peppermint and the echo of merry laughter fill the air, as this seemingly ordinary abode unravels the extraordinary secret that it's a portal to the very heart of Santa's workshop, where dreams come to life in a festive symphony of holiday magic.

I had to get a wider shot of Santa's Train, the house and the poinsettias. This was when the sunlight was fading and was no longer hitting the yellowish building behind me.

So you think your Christmas Eve is stressful? Spare a thought for our mate Nick. While you’re wrestling with tangled fairy lights, he’s got to visit every nice child in the world, steer a sleigh pulled by reindeer with attitude, and deal with elves who’d rather test the toys than pack them. And then there’s Martha — Mrs. Claus—who’s as caring as she is relentless with her annual lecture.

“Don’t sleigh over the speed limit, Nick! Remember what happened in 2015?” “Wear your gloves this time—you’re not frostbite-proof!”

“For goodness' sake, watch out for Elon's Starlink satellites. You’re not dodging one again this year!” “You don’t need to drink every beer someone leaves out! And maybe skip a few chocolates—remember what the doctor said about your waistline? Chimneys aren’t exactly getting bigger, you know.”

“And that beard! If it catches fire in a chimney, don’t come crying to me!” “Oh, and Nick... there’s no shame in using GPS. Last year’s Paris debacle was not a good look.”

Do you have any Christmas traditions? In our house, we’re Lego nerds through and through. Every year on December 1st, we kick off our annual assembly of the four Christmas-themed Lego sets we own—each boasting over 1,000 pieces. It’s a group effort, with whoever happens to be around joining in, fueled by a glass of red wine, Spotify Christmas carols, and a spirited debate over the best way to sort the pieces. (I’m firmly in the “sort by style, not color” camp by the way)

Of course, there’s the inevitable moments “There’s no red piece that’s a double with four blocks and a slant on one side!” Yet somehow, my wife always finds it — usually in a spot I *just checked*. I’m convinced she hides them for fun.

After a week of meticulous building, we finally finish one set... only to discover an alarming number of leftover pieces. Why do I have five green tree branch when I desperately need an orange Christmas light? By that point, it doesn’t really matter though.

Then there’s our grandson. When he arrives, the intricate builds we’ve painstakingly constructed are gleefully demolished in search of *that one perfect block* he absolutely must have. That’s the best part of it all — the chaos, the laughter, the tradition. It’s not about getting it to look like the picture on the box (it never does anyway). It’s about the journey, the memories, and the fun of doing it together.

Wishing you a merry Christmas, I hope you enjoy whatever you are up to !

This is Santa's Workshop, not his House. That's a little further to the right. That's where everyone went with their kids to ask Santa for whatever it is they want for Christmas.

If the colors seem faded, it's because with the end of daylight the ambient light doesn't quite provide enough illumination to make the reds kick out. There was nothing wrong with my phone's camera.

As the afternoon wore on, more families were emerging from Santa's House, after no doubt filling his ear with all sorts of requests for Christmas. Anyway, the children emerging don't look worse for the wear, but I'm sure Santa needed a good stiff one after a day's work.

There's always one guy who didn't hear the instructions from the photographer.

Merry Christmas!

The Simcoe Christmas Panorama has grown to more than 60 displays and 500,000 lights. Hundreds of decorated trees and our displays turn Simcoe’s downtown parks into a winter wonderland that generations have been enjoying for over 60 years. Come experience the magic and enjoy horse drawn trolley rides, character meet and greets, and a warm cup of hot chocolate while you walk under the lights at the Simcoe Christmas Panorama River of Lights!

Me, my sister, and brother at santa's Workshop in North Pole, NY.

This is a photo from my dad's old box camera.

I've been such a good girl that I got to meet up with Santa Claus, his elves and reindeer and see his workshop and all the preparations for the big day. He even agreed to sit for a stranger portrait and answer some questions............. but I'll keep all that a secret till Christmas Eve. Meantime I can show his very special grotto brimming with presents.

Day 7 of my Advent Photostream

This is pretty much the last shot you will see of Santa's House, before the place is taken down and stored until next Christmas season. I have photos of that already, but I wanted to share this one, as I think it turned out pretty well. I probably could have waited another five to ten minutes, but I think the distinction between daylight and dusk is pretty clear here. And the colors turned out so well.

This photo was taken a few minutes after the sun moved away from the yellowish building. Notice how vibrant the reds are now. Still, it might be nice if there were more yellows and gold to go around, just to offset the abundance of red here.

Taken on my photo platform. Legal disclaimer: no elves were injured in the making of this capture.

This is also an example of light reflecting off the building behind me and how it hits the objects in front of me. There is a lot going on in this frame. There is the train, the workshop, the tree, and even the statue to the right in the background, and the fountain shooting up around it. Some days work out better than others.

The normally red colored house has a slight hint of green in the gray. I set my color spot to read green only, and this is the result.

This is a frame grab from HD video, using my Motorola Moto g 5G smartphone camera.

You can see the video that shows the use of spot color by clicking on the link below to my YouTube channel:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfpMx0CBTsY

Some things never change…some children believe in Santa Claus while others skeptically question his existence, but the one thing that has changed through the years is how they communicate with him.

From email and texting, to creating Santa-specific YouTube videos, Macy's takes a look into Santa’s “Communication Station” where, upon receiving these messages, Santa is able to make his list, and check it twice.

Nice children from all over the world are then “matched” up with their gifts. Once a match is made, the gift is magically transported from the communication station up through the magic gifting vortex where they make their way to their delighted recipients.

This is also the result of the sun reflecting off the off-white/yellowish building behind me. Notice how it affects the red in the poinsettias and even with Santa's House and Santa's Workshop. So it appears the best times to get photos here are either in the middle of the day, or just as the sun is about to set, or a few minutes afterwards.

What would have been really interesting here was to see at least the little snowmen (or snow children) moving back and forth, with a recording of children singing Christmas carols, Disney animatronics style. It's hard to say if such a thing would be appreciated, but it's something to think about.

If customers were there with their children (and most were), they would take the time to pose for photos the parents would shoot with their phones. One parent let their kids sit in the train, which they weren't supposed to do. After Thanksgiving there will be more security and more personnel manning Santa's House, which will hopefully keep anyone away from these objects so they don't get damaged accidentally.

I broke out my old Canon PowerShot, just to see how Santa's House would look in a photo taken by it. I hadn't used it in many years, and security at the Americana was cracking down on anything that looked like a real camera -- except phones.

This is the only photo I took with it. I bought the camera 13 years ago this month. Technology has changed considerably since then. What you are seeing here is from a small 12MP sensor. The color saturation had to be boosted via Vivid mode on the camera. The exposure latitude isn't as good as it is on my DSLR, and it isn't even as good as it is on my current smartphone. The background at the upper right blows out, where the DSLR and the smartphone can capture it well enough.

This was taken on the 8th, in the middle of the week, before the mad rush to have every child and parent storming Santa's House to demand Santa bring exactly what they want for Christmas. I have photos of the storm, which was December 18th. More later.

Santa's Workshop annex, Cross County shopping center, Yonkers, New York.

date stamped on slide, July 1959

Using my phone, I got this view of the little train with gifts in place of coals. There were a lot of people at the Americana, but this area was pretty quiet by comparison. Quiet, except for the noise of the shoppers and the piped in Las Vegas style jazz music.

Here is yet another of my standard composed shots of the golden statue surrounded by water shooting up in the air. And we have the Christmas tree, though the lights wouldn't be on until Black Friday. But since this time the photo was taken with my new Motorola g 5G phone, you can see the colors are richer and the details better.

It’s a sunny day at the North Pole, and Mrs. Claus has cookies for the elves. One of the perks of working for Santa. :-)

(P.S. This was taken before Santa and Mrs. Claus left for their annual vacation in the Bahamas.)

The people who live here either have a different concept of Christmas or they really, really didn't want to take down their Halloween decorations. After I drove by this, I immediately headed home and got my camera. I wanted to document it before the scene disappeared.

I realize that some may view this and question its taste. It does look a bit macabre. On the other hand, a nativity scene would be much, much worse than a skeleton Santa's workshop.

Santa is taking the month off in the Bahamas, but the reindeer and elves are still holding down the fort at the North Pole. (Reindeer do not do well in warm climates, and the elves are taking a “staycation.”) In February they will be back getting ready for Christmas 2018.
