The holidays are finally here. No time like the present to start decorating, making things merry and bright, getting in the spirit of things, and spreading goodwill and cheer to all.
When the guys showed up early for Movie Night, Stormtrooper Bruce asked if they'd be willing to help him decorate his quarters again. It's a yearly tradition so of course they said yes.
Tonight it is snowing and it is 6 degrees outside with a -15 degree wind chill. We are expecting snow through the night and into the day tomorrow and tomorrow night. My husband and I thought it would be a good night to start a fire in the fireplace and bake some cookies.
Mostly Pyrex pieces with some other assorted vintage Christmas goodies mixed in.
The garland is made from vintage Hallmark cookie cutters strung on yarn with cut up paper straws.
Let the decorating begin :) Actually, it began last weekend!
Inspired by Eartha's Mom Come back soon, Eartha :)
Just a couple of my cute vintage Santa mugs and my recently completed Santa and Mrs Claus miniature candy dishes :D

I purchased a box of vintage gift tags, seals and cards on eBay. Included in the lot were a handful of cut-out graphics trimmed from vintage Christmas cards. Recycling cards into tags (or ornaments or candy bowls) is a time-honored tradition.
I like these cheerful Santa mugs.
Well December is winding down and the elves just need a relaxing day plus they could use a bit of cleaning up from all their shenanigans :D
The tiny elves picked strawberries off our tree and tried to make the wreath look Christmasy with them ;D

Tonight everything finally went back to normal, as the last of our holiday visitors disembarked. It was a great Christmas and a lot of fun to have guests, but man does it feel nice to have Maple Hoo back to ourselves. As is our tradition, we took a picture of a hot cocoa mug on Pookie's restored end table to commemorate the living room going back to normal.
Mug. This is a hand painted ceramic mug that someone hand painted for Christmas. Someone didn't want it so they took it to Kent Recycle Center and it can be yours free!
While I had the chicken pox, my mom and younger brother took care of me because I was very sick. Now, because I felt really bad, I started craving ice cream! So my mother put vanilla ice cream in one of my favorite mugs. (I just love the Santa on the front.)
I'm so glad I photodocumented everything from last year's Advent calendar - it's the only reason I remembered to have marshmallows on-hand for hot chocolate for this Advent activity.
I'm also so glad I picked these Santa mugs up at Target last year!
I'm already behind in my photodocumentation for this year. But at least I'm not behind in the actual Advent calendar! Still need to get to the store to get some 3M Command strips (thank you Erin and others for that fab suggestion!). Even with multiple layers of packing tape, the calendar keeps falling down.
Reflections ... well they didn't work out too well for me, today!! Nonetheless, Santa looks ready for a little drink 😉

Yessirree... it's one of THOSE days where my list is longer than my time. Good thing I've got my Santa buddy here to keep the caffeine flowing!
