On December 20 in Hempstead, NY, as the first offshore wind project in New York gets approval, a huge crowd of elected officials, environmental groups, activists and concerned New Yorkers rally to support Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and ask for offshore wind commitment in New York
Climate activists gathered on June 14, 2023 at Brooklyn Borough Hall for a teach-in and art action highlighting successful initiatives implemented this year to combat the climate crisis, reduce consumers' energy expenses, and expose the obstructive climate hypocrisy of National Grid and ConEdison at both the city and state levels. The Brooklyn event coincided with more than 50 actions across the country, called by the People vs. Fossil Fuels coalition, in angry response to Bidenâs approval of the liquified natural gas (LNG) and Willow oil projects in Alaska and the debt ceiling deal that fast-tracks the Mountain Valley Pipeline. Chase has claimed to support the Paris Agreement, yet has been ramping up its funding for the worst fossil fuels and in the process, has financed projects and companies that threaten Indigenous rights and culture. On December 20 in Hempstead, NY, as the first offshore wind project in New York gets approval, a huge crowd of elected officials, environmental groups, activists and concerned New Yorkers rally to support Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and ask for offshore wind commitment in New York - New York Senator Todd Kaminsky said: “New York must remain a responsible, conscientious player in tackling climate change. I will continue to push for clean-energy policies that provide safe, reliable, and renewable power."
