May Boeve, Executive Director at 350.org - Over a hundred New Yorkers convened at a public garden inside Trump Tower on May 9, 2017; to host a teach-in about fossil fuel divestment and urge New York City to show climate leadership in the face of Trump’s attack on climate change and the Paris Agreement. The teach-in, part of a global week of divestment action, took particular aim at New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer. Stringer oversees the city’s $175 billion pension fund portfolio and faces mounting pressure to divest from fossil fuels and pipelines.

Art build for the Clean Energy march - Sane Energy Arts team were invited to make art for the inFRACKstructure contingent for the March For a Clean Energy Revolution. We have spent many hours having listening sessions from our grassroots colleagues on what messaging needs to be highlighted. Similar to our 50 foot United States of Fracking banner, we worked with legendary graphic novelist Seth Tobocman again to bring to life the story to life in a 13 part piece of art that will be carried high above the march to tell the story of fracking.

On September 9, 2017 at Chase Bank in New York City, Sane Energy Project participated in a National Day of Action against Energy Transfer Partners, core member and documentary filmmaker, Lee Ziesche, spent time at Camp White Pine, and read aloud her recently published article about the encampment. Puppeteers illustrated the article with 8 foot tall trees and a zipline with a silhouette of Elise Gerhart. Over a thousand people including environmental justice, faith-based, youth, Indigenous, and civil rights groups, labor unions, frontline communities, and other justice-focused organizations, took to the streets for climate, jobs, and justice. The Long Island Climate March joined the tens of thousands marching around the country in solidarity with the People’s Climate March in Washington, D.C. on April 29, 2017. This event was the largest climate mobilization since the election, and marks the end of the first 100 days of the Trump Administration

New York renewable energy advocacy groups kicked off a state-wide week of action named #CuomoWalktheTalk -- #OffFossilFuels campaign! on November 13, 2017; outside Governor Andrew Cuomo's offices in Manhattan.
