The Western Scheldt (Dutch: Westerschelde) in the province of Zeeland in the southwestern Netherlands, is the estuary of the Scheldt river. This river once had several estuaries, but the others are disconnected from the Scheldt, leaving the Westerschelde as its only direct way to the sea. It is an important shipping route to the Port of Antwerp, Belgium. Therefore, unlike the other sea arms, it is not closed by a dam as part of the Delta Works. Instead, the dykes around it have been heightened and reinforced.
Many ships have sunk in the Western Scheldt. Following an agreement between the Dutch and Belgian governments in 1995, many of these wrecks have been removed to improve shipping access to Antwerp. It was expected that the last 38 wrecks in the shipping channel would be removed during 2003. The largest wreck was the 131-metre (430 ft) long Alan A. Dale which was removed during June 2003.
The Western Scheldt was freed from German occupation in October and November 1944 by the First Canadian Army during The Battle of the Scheldt.

Two fishermen have pulled their narrow outrigger boat onto the sand with their combined forces. Now they have to get rid of the catch immediately, because the fish don't last long in this heat. I photographed the scene on Mawella Beach in the south of Sri Lanka with a drone from a height of almost 10 metres.
Around an hour before Sunset, Stoupa (Mani, Peloponnese, Greece) is beautifully illuminated by the sun. The light changed quickly because of the cloud situation.
Lunan Bay is a mile-long sandy beach, with a reputation as one of the best in Angus. It is set in a secluded, pretty, rural location, with a cave and arch at the northern end, and is divided in two by Lunan Water, backed by sand dunes.
The beach is particularly popular for swimming as well as watersports, fishing, horse riding, and peaceful walks in a natural setting. It is also an excellent place to search for gemstones, and is overlooked by the historic ruins of Red Castle. A number of other historic sites and castles scatter the surrounding countryside, within walking distance of the beach.
Parking can be found behind the northern end of the beach, which is accessed via a path over the sand dunes. A café can also be found at the beach. The nearest town from the beach is Montrose, a few miles to the north, where further facilities such as shops, restaurants and places to stay can be found.
