It was awesome to see over 8 thousand cranes in Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge this morning. 6:37AM
The sandhill crane is a species of large crane of North America and extreme northeastern Siberia. The common name of this bird refers to habitat like that at the Platte River, on the edge of Nebraska's Sandhills on the American Great Plains. Wikipedia

Un oiseau pour lequel j'ai une grande affection. Tant il est inspirant par sa taille, sa discrétion et ses différentes façons de communiquer.
Le chant et la danse me sont particulièrement émouvants.
Sandhill Cranes. The light was too low at this time in the morning, but I couldn't resist trying to shoot the sandhill cranes against the backdrop of the pink sky.
When a crane comes into your life as a spirit teacher or totem, you are being asked to use your past as a source of strength in the present. They tend to appear in the lives of people who are well served by some degree of secrecy in their lives. The crane teaches about keeping your own counsel, protection of family, and balance in life above all else.💕
An encounter with a crane is a powerful experience. You are being asked to look inward, show fairness to all persons, and protect your wisdom while sharing it in appropriate ways. In short, you are being shown the way to balance and good fortune❣
Wonderful evening to you
This is one of the local Florida, non-migratory families. I was surprized to see a young family in late March. Usually I've seen them nesting during March and the babies came a moth later in April. What's more, is that they only have that one chick and they are staying well away from the trails. In the past I have always seen 2 chicks, which usually make it to at least young adulthood...at least the ones I have observed.

A Sandhill Crane getting ready to eat a spider. They eat all types a food such as insects and seeds. Taken at Harns Marsh near Ft Myers Florida.
The adult has plastic or something a little thicker on its top bill. It's not stopping the adult from feeding the colt or eating. Hopefully it's off by now.
Thanks so much for the visit!
While the male Sandhill Crane leaped up in the air and started dancing, his partner remained unimpressed and continued foraging with her head down. After twirling, turning and bugling the male eventually gave up and landed beside her. Long Point
Observing animal behavior is so interesting to me. I noticed these three amigos staring intently at something and I decided to pull over to investigate. Once out of the jeep I discovered their interest it was a snapping turtle crossing the green space. They followed it down the culvert and continued keeping their eyes on it until it got to the opposite side of the expanse.
We enjoyed a campout at Myakka River State Park last weekend and we ran into the Crane family feeding along the River bank. Mom, Dad and their youngster. I am still trying to catch up on Flickr.
Happy Wing Wednesday and enjoy the rest of your week!
------------------------------ JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS ALONE!
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

A pair of Sandhill Cranes found a on a small farm near Goose Island State Park, Coastal Texas.
Which is the male, and which is the female? I have no idea. Sandhill cranes are monomorphic, meaning the male and female look the same.
Found the coyote stalking the crane and then he seen me and ran away. Maybe it was the cranes lucky day that I came along. Athabasca county Alberta.
