I thought this was a modern fake when I first saw it but, no, I found out is was originally built in 1936 but relocated and renovated when the Detroit Tigers built their new stadium.
We moved over Christmas, and this is just a short walk away from the new house. I'm sure I'll end up shooting it a lot!
I've shot this many times, but I loved the light on it yesterday, and the place is now closed so who knows how long we have left with it around?
I went all the way to Cambridge, it was a nasty day and this is the only photo I got.
Frisbee Motel.
A hand-painted Mail Pouch sign (I know, they were all hand-painted, but calling it amateur or whatever somehow seems insulting) spotted in Rockbridge, Ohio
Stones River Battlefield and National Cemetery.
December 31, 1862 to January 2, 1863 over 81,000 men (and boys) fought here in Tennessee. This cemetery contains over 6,100 Union soldiers, with 2,500 of them unknown, only a number on their marker. One headstone has the name of a 16 year old Union soldier killed here. Some "soldiers" were as young as 12.
The artillery monument marks the battle's final attack on January 2, where 57 Union cannon fired upon the approaching Confederates, killing and wounding over 1,800 men in a short time.
A very sobering experience to visit these sites, and highly recommended.
In one more, probably futile, attempt to re-boot a slowly dying interest in my own photography, I have decided to start yet another 365 project (my third): one new photo per day for a whole calendar year.
I think I may already regret it and it's only my first post ;-)
