Lab technicians Sandy Simon and Rachel Waltermire sampling across dozens of Miscanthus genotypes in the field. Rachel helped with taking soil cores across rhizosphere and bulk samples, while Sandy focused on taking SPAD (Soil Plant Analysis Development) measurements to have an estimation for chlorophyll content in the leaves.

A sample of anhydrous zinc chloride was prepared by dissolving zinc metal in hydrochloric acid and heating the solution until the water had evaporated and the remaining zinc chloride had melted.
Rapidly cooling the melt into a glass produced a white translucent substance that shows interesting fluorescence from UV as well as phophorescing after exposure to white light.
This sample cake will have its final colour adjusted to the couple's taste. It will become a reality on July 05, 2009

Historic Samples Manor Church is located just a few miles north-east of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, located in the rolling hills of south-western Washington County, Maryland. When the church was organized in the early 1840s, it was one of the first Winebrennerian Churches of God to be founded in Maryland. From this church a great missionary period was unleashed that resulting in the organizing of many congregations in the Washington and Frederick County areas of Maryland. Parts of the church may date to the 1840s as part of a schoolhouse in which the congregation worshiped. In December of 1873, the church was consecrated as a house of worship, and has since been expanded with a two-story narthex at the front. The church's large cemetery contains many graves of local families and some large figures in the Church of God history, including the circuit riding Rev. Solomon J. Montgomery. Samples Manor is today an independent church, having left the Churches of God in the 1960s.
