Sammy belongs to my friend, Les. Mk1 used to belong to his Mum, who also used to belong to me, but I gave him away as I was living with a violent partner, and was worried Sammy would get hurt or worse, then it was my turn to leave.
Mk2 seemed to be a stray that decided she was adopting Les. Sammy is a funny one, apparently where she is sitting, is her favourite spot in the garden, next to the plant pots. 😊🐱
My son Antonio requested I take the photo, he adores cats and unfortunately because he is so allergic to them, we can't have one.

Up close and personal with young Sammy the Seagull! Yesterday was a very rainy day but that does not stop us from riding the roads and I am so glad we went out as look who we found! Our new young friend Sammy! This was taken at Colonial Beach in the "Northern Neck" of Virginia.
Sammy is one of our backyard gray squirrels, easily identified by his thick bushy tail. He was busy scurrying around the yard, finally hunting though fallen leaves under one of our oak trees. He emerged with this big nut, but I have no idea where it came from since the only nut-bearing trees that we have are oaks. He seemed to be thrilled with his find. Backyard wildlife.

Every time I jump on my bike, I ride like a loose cannon. I really admire Andie for having the courage to ride with me. Even though it was a bit challenging for her to hold on tight and not fall off, she handled it like a champ.

Surprisingly, Timmy simply ignored Sammy. Maybe he didn't dare start a fight in front of the camera either 😊
However, he seems to be slowly becoming a little calmer. On the other side of the brook lives Cookie, black, 14 years old and smaller than Timmy. His mum told me last week that Timmy came to her when she was outside the house. Then Cookie came out the open door and ... nothing happened. They greeted each other like old friends. Then Timmy took the chance and marched into the house to see if anything had changed since his last inspection 😊

All was drab as I walked down the right bank of the Meuse River at Venlo. It's been dull weather these last two weeks and trees are still winter-barren. And then in all that grey there was a single Common Hazel, with its nicely green male catkins. I climbed down the bank and Sammy got this shot against Meuse's waters.

I haven't been out to the shores of the Pacific Ocean for a long time. I bet Sammy and his friends are still there. It's their paradise. They look so tiny surrounded by the crashing waves of the Pacific and the stately cliffs they call home.
