Born to an aristocratic family, Fynes Moryson (1566-1630) studied and later taught at Cambridge. He started travelling at the age of twenty-three. For four years he toured Germany, Flandres, Switzerland, Danemark and Poland. He returned to Britain in 1595, and in the same year started out on his journey to the Holy Land, Syria, Crete and Istanbul, in the company of his brother. The voyage lasted until 1597. While they were in Antioch, Moryson’s brother died from dysentery.
Moryson later travelled around Ireland and became active in politics during the period of the Nine-year War and the revolution that followed. He only started composing his chronicle in 1797. He wrote in Latin, and for his own diversion, basing himself on his notes. The work was published in English in 1616, in his own translation. The text is comprised of five parts. The first three are dedicated to the regions he toured and the last two describe the institutions, customs and traditions of those same countries. The chapters on Moryson’s travels in England and Ireland remained unpublished until 1903. The complete travel chronicles were republished in 1907.
His description of inns and his observations on the diet of various nations are remarkable and quite rare for his time. On the other hand, he is biased in his remarks on the Ottomans and the Irish, whom he disliked for different reasons. In spite of being one of the most important English travellers of Elizabethan times, Moryson’s text is true to the stereotypes that characterize 16th century travel chronicles. His culture leads him to seek for specific features in each space, to describe what he sees and to take notes. His work, free from editorial trends, is exemplary of a “pure” traveller of the late sixteenth century.

Metin beş bölümden oluşmakta. İlk üç bölüm gezdiği yerler son iki bölüm ise görmüş olduğu yerlerdeki halkların gelenek ve adetleri hakkındadır. İngiltere ve İrlanda'ya yaptığı gezilerle ilgili bölümler ancak 1903 yılında yayınlanır, nihayet 1907 yılında seyahatlerinin tümü toplu halde kitaplaşır.
Moryson'un kalmış olduğu hanlarla ilgili ve beslenme alışkanlıklarına ilişkin betimlemeler yaşadığı dönem için nadir ve kayda değer niteliktedir. Ancak farklı nedenlerle her ikisine karşı sempati beslemediği Osmanlılar ve İrlandalılarla ilgili gözlemleri güvenilmez ve önyargılı sayılmaktadır. Kraliçe Elisabeth devrinin önemli gezginlerinden biri sayılmakla beraber metni 16. yüzyıl seyahatnamelerinin basmakalıplığından uzaklaşmaz. Geniş bir kültüre sahip olan Moryson bulunduğu mekânda somut öğeler arayıp kaydederek betimlemelerini yapar; basmakalıp baskı unsurları içermeyen kitabı ise 16. yüzyıl çıkışında "saf" bir gezgin tarafından kaleme alınmış bir seyahatname örneğidir.

Ok, so this has been on my "bucket list" since before I started my 365.
I've lived in the same town for my entire life, and ALWAYS liked these cool metal stairs on the side of a brick apartment building. I just haven't had the guts to step on them, they've either been blocked off, or folded up, and either one seemed like "OFF LIMITS" to me.
Well... today I built up the guts. They were blocked off by blocks, but we stepped over them a bit, and used the awesome stairs.
I figured, if someone doesn't want us on these, they'll say something, or stare at us strangely.
So I started shooting, and didn't think much about it, looking around (it's on the main street in town, a TON of traffick is going by, and I was checking for weird looks) but saw nothing out of the blue.
But two minutes into the shoot, TONS of sirens went off all around us, and were driving to us. :P
I had a half a moment's panick (I guess the little girl's fear instilled in me of these stairs and thinking of them as off limits) thinking that we were the cause of the sirens. LOL!!!
Thankfully, it was just the fire trucks and police cars going off in another direction, but it sure gave us a small fright. :P *laughs*
Anyway, that being said, I have now checked off another bucket list... uh, check? :P Not sure what to call it. ;)

(Side note the reason she looks tired is because she had gotten up from a nap 13 minutes earlier) LOL!

today was a very sad and, at the same time, exciting day. it was my last day (at least full time) with plexus. i start a new position in atlanta on monday. this will bring a lot of changes in the coming months. i was very sad to leave my co-workers who have become friends (and family) over the past few years.
this was the going away cake they got me today. it's in the shape of the hurricane. "shawnami" is a nickname that started around the time of our trip to jamaica. they claimed that my voice low voice caused the tsunami in southern asia. "blew us off the internet" is a phrase we use a lot making fun of a past client.

We have the same looks as last year as we were in a hurry building it to save extra cost. I build the sim up in a little over 24 hours.. a new personal record wow! This photo is from last year, why? It looks the same but here we still had mirror effect in the ice, thats a lot diffirence this year.. who knows next year again!
