Not one, but two, count them, two magicians walk out on stage! While Sam knows what's going on, no one else seems to know. They think it's part of the gig. But with what Konoto had done, the demise of "Reverso the Rodeo Robin" will soon come.
But while the two magicians walk on stage, poor Nosmo has an attack of some sort. An EMT and a doctor immediately rush to his aid. "I can't breathe well," he gasps, "and it's just like the other day. And it was some strange perfume that caused it then, and," he coughs and grows weaker.
"Quick! Get the oxygen!" the doctor orders. "We know how to get this guy breathing better again."
There is a slight pause in the action while the EMT and the doctor are tending to Nosmo's aid. But, as they say in show business...'The show must go on.'
"Okay, ladies and gentlemen," the one magician begins. "Who can tell a real magician from a phony?"
The crowd offers a few answers but are all muted. "We test a magician by how well he or she hides their tricks and illusions. Not this one," pointing to the other magician. "Why, she can't even keep her jewelry in her pocket!"
And with that, something falls from the coat of the one magician.
As Sam and Konoto arrive, things seem a bit in confusion. But soon, a gentleman walks up and introduces himself. "Hi, I'm Farmer Timothy Hay. I serve as the master of ceremonies for the concert coming up tomorrow. Today is the technical rehearsal were the stage hands will get their 'act' together."
"Hi, I'm Sam Shoegum and this is Konoto. We're investigating the theft of something important to her and the latest clue leads us to here."
"Theft, you say?" Timothy Hay wondered what could have been stolen. "What exactly was taken?" he asked curiously.
"Oh, it was a gem, but we're trying to find the thief and the clue we had simply had a time on it."
"6:30", Konoto chimed in. But didn't offer anything beyond that.
Farmer Timothy Hay replied, "Well, 6:30 is here, but as you can see, no one is really in costume, except for the keytarist. He likes practicing like that. It helps him perform better."
