Making Choices .. Quotes Mrs Happy Face
With predictions of the "storm of a generation" and a "bombogenesis" snowstorm for much of North America - for us directly, its a flash freeze, up to 100 km winds, and blizzard warnings, I'm mindful of all the people making plans to visit family over the Holidays. Please be careful! We've done more than our share of traveling over the years but this time, I'm grateful to be staying home. To all my Flickr friends, I sincerely hope you have a wonderful and safe Christmas!

Wising you and yours the very merriest Christmas and a wonderful 2008!
In this little time I have been on Flickr I have met quite a lot of nice people.
Some of you I feel I "know", because you share.
Some of you I see as polite and nice.
Some of you are extremely enthusiastic, I really get blown away so many times by your comments, and I never ever would take them for granted.
Some of you are so funny.
Sitting here all smiling because of fun comments are pretty amazing.
Some of you are so caring and emphatic, that I do actually flood tears.
Yesyes, I know I'm the weird blond.
Some of you have photos that affect me deeply.
Some of you stop by obviously, don't say a word or a fave, and then suddenly say the most fabulous things about what my words and photos mean to you.
Some of you I get to know even more, getting a bit more "under the skin".
It's all about what we want to show, isn't it.
Are we afraid to show who we are?
Are we afraid that we will have stalkers around our house corners?
And me being blond, lol, and having my full name here.
I'm so smart, theehee.
Not especially difficult to find me.
I don't live in fear because of that.
And when we show who is the person behind the account, what happens then - well we start to care in a different way.
We can worry, how are they dealing?
We can plot in a caring comment on a photo.
The thoughts we send are of the good ones, the lovable ones.
Oh no, do they have a cold.
Sending them a loving thought.
Oh, he is off for a long trip!
Sending good hopes for an adventurous trip and wishing them all a safe travel.
Sending loving thoughts, again, and commenting on the photo.
We change our world by the loving and caring we send out through our thoughts and comments. It's good vibes even tho it's not the "real life".
You too get affected when you get a nice wish on your way, it's like a domino effect. The positive vibes just goes on and on.
It warms your heart.
You will definitely leave a smile on the person that receives the nice comment.
We kind of get involved anyhow. Bonding, there are no borders anymore.
This is the new way of living our life, just look at our kids.
It works for a while.
It will probably stop too.
Obviously it's not a real life.
It's all a virtual life.
But the comments are there, the thoughts too, the good vibes.
But, the virtual life might become a reality, because you may actually end up meeting your FlickrFriends.
Isn't that something.
Safe travels my friend!! Always!
Love you!
Tiny Travel Tip #5
If traveling abroad check to see if you need any vaccinations ... even if you don't like needles ... and take out medical insurance .. making sure you advise the company of any existing health problems otherwise you may not be covered in the event of an illness abroad.
... but Palo what about rabies, malaria, tetanus, cholera, yellow fever, diphtheria ... and there's a million more ...
- well Tiny you don't need to get a needle for all those things just because you are traveling it depends on where we are going ...
... phew

A simple pile of stones seems to be a world-wide phenomenon. Here is a simple example of one on the Kiso Road (hiking trail) in Japan.

Taken back in March 2017, this eight vertical stitched image panorama really highlights the wild and remoteness of the area around the emergency hut that is located at the top of a mountain pass on the spectacular Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
A few days before I was up there alone at midnight photographing the aurora borealis over his hut and sadly my vehicle got stuck in deep snow on a 45 degree angled banking by the side of the road. I was forced to sleep in the car all night until the rescue truck arrived at 9am the following morning. It was -11 throughout the night so sleeping in the hut without some form of fire/heat was not an option. Better to stay in the car and survive.
It's an incredibly harsh environment up there and if going alone at night, best to let someone know where you're going in case of trouble.
Iceland I have since found out has an incredibly useful App for your phone called 112 Iceland. This is a simple app that has two buttons. A green one that says 'Check In' in which once pressed, the call centre logs your location and a red button marked 'Emergency' which sends a text message from your phone to the call centre complete with your GPS coordinates. Even if there's no signal, a text often sends.
112 Iceland app is offered from SafeTravel which is an accident prevention project of the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue. You can find out more here

I have been traveling a lot in November and December. I took this picture in the Chicago O'Hare airport during a recent layover.
I like the globe in this decoration because it reminds me that so many of the photographers I know on Flickr live, work and travel all around the world. I wish you all safe travels this holiday season.
We wishing all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year 2015. Thank you our friends, as we look forward to the New Year and keep clicking / sharing away here on Flickr with us. Cheers, Safe Travels, Be Well. Our Greetings Around The World.
I work for a global company and I travel quite a bit for work. One of the things I like about the culture at my company is that we wish each other "safe travels". That seems such a good wish for a colleague that may have 20 or 25 hours of travels ahead when the last meeting ends. For my last photo from my 2014 Barcelona series, I am sending this wish to all my Flickr friends in Catalan, Spanish, French and English (translation according to Google).
You may recognize this shot if you have ever connected through Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris as I did on my homeward journey.
