I've nearly finished the yoke, the part of the sweater covering the shoulders and upper chest. This is where I slipped stitches off the needles onto a length of black waste yarn to hold the armholes while I knit the body. The advantage of knitting a sweater top down (neck to waist) is that it's easy to try on. Danny did so this evening. I found that the yoke needs to go a little deeper. So I'll slip these stitches back on the needles and add another inch before making the armholes.
