Cracking moth in the back garden this evening and very chilled. Saw one last year too but didn;t manage to get a shot of it,
Again my camera phone does not do any recent photos justice (I so miss my DSLR) This is the view I have from my bed in hospital. It's amazing. From SW17 in London, I can see Croydon, Kingston in Surrey, Crystal Palace and beyond & lots of greenery! I have the bed pushed right up against the wall/window. This gives me lots of space to put my cards, dvd's, books etc. It's great! I can control the blinds from my bed also. This has enabled me to open them at 6am when it's a bright morning and partake in a spot of sun bathing - Vitamin D top up! Hehe :-)
GFA 955 is a King Long XMQ6900 new to Mayne's of Buckie in May 2014 as N99 GSM.
It later operated by Hogg, Jedburgh as SW14 YSV before being sold to MacPhail's of Salsburgh who have re-registered it to GFA 955.
And almost all the windows have lace curtains! Viewed from my lodgings at number 14. A tidy street of well maintained housing, identical on both sides of the street. Some houses had been re-roofed following damage during WW2 air raids. This photo was taken mid March 1963, just after the last snow had melted, ending the 'Big Freeze of '63'.
This splendid terraced row is made up of house pairs, each pair rising roughly 1m higher than its neighbour. There are 8 chimney pots to each pair, as originally each individual dwelling had four main rooms, 2 up and 2 down, each with a coal fire for heating. Following the 1956 Clean Air Act, by 1963 many owners had converted to gas or electrical heating. My landlord at Nr. 14 had installed gas fires in the two large upstairs rooms, rented out as "bed/sitting rooms". Each room had its own 'shilling in the slot' gas meter, for heating with cooking done on an adjacent gas ring.

Spot the differences between Northern Routemasters 2122 FPT592C and 2145 254CLT at Bensham depot and works in 1966.
New in January 1965 Routemaster 2122 was one of Northern's second batch. 2145 was of course new to London Transport in 1962 as RMF1254. Demonstrated in 1964 to Liverpool & Halifax Corporations and East Kent, then operated with a trailer on the air passenger transfer service on behalf of British European Airways, RMF1254 was sold to Northern General in November 1966 and became Northern's 51st RM.
Renumbered 3106 in January 1975, FPT592C was withdrawn in November 1980 and sold in January 1981 to Wright & Humphries of Dagenham Essex for preservation. Sold in July 1991 to Owen, Upper Norwood, passing to Maybury London Sightseeing Tours, Wimbledon by October 1995. Acquired in April 1996 by Big Bus Company, Waterside Road, Wimbledon SW17, numbered RMF592 and fitted with an AEC engine. Last taxed in October 2009, does it still survive?
254CLT was renumbered by Northern as 3129 and its history has been well documented. Restored to its former glory as LT RMF1254 in 2004 and rallied extensively since. At the time of posting [March 2022] RMF1254 is off the road.
