Mausoleum by William Burn commissioned by Mrs Lyne-Stephens on the death of her husband. By July 1861 she had applied for permission to enclose 1/2 an acre of land adjoining the cemetery on Barnes Common for consecration and the removal there of her husband's remains. The application said that ‘she wanted her husband’s remains in some place near her own residence and to erect a tomb of some importance to his memory.’ The mausoleum, next to the then parish church of Roehampton and now in the grounds of Roehampton University at Grove House was consecrated in 1864 by Bishop Tait and Mrs Lyne-Stephens was buried there in the white sarcophagus, decorated with the Lyne Stephens coat of arms, besides her husband in 1894.

20 years ago the only unusual thing in this scene was the visiting Conrail SD40-2. I couldn't imagine BN would be mergered out of existence in a few short years. May 13, 1993.

Bungalows for the elderly, designed by the LCC Architects Dept., completed 1958, listed Grade II in 1998. Brick and concrete cross-wall construction, flat roofs with tall concrete chimney stacks. Part of the Alton Conservation Area. London Borough of Wandsworth.
Marc Bolan died here aged 29 in September 1977,when the car in which he was a passenger hit the Sycamore tree as seen at the top of the photo...The Performing Right Society installed this Memorial Stone for Marc at the base of the embankment from the 'Bolan Tree...The Memorial Stone was unveiled by Marc's only child Rolan Bolan....T-Rex Action Group (TAG) was formed with the specific aim of caring for the site. TAG were granted an in perpetuity lease on the site with ownership and full responsibility for the 'Bolan Tree'. During 2000, TAG built steps up the muddy embankment,In 2002 Rolan Bolan unveiled a Bronze Bust of his Father at the site, paid for exclusively by TAG Founder Fee Warner and sculpted by Canadian sculptor Jean Robillard...The driver of the crash his girlfriend at the time Gloria Jones survived the crash and is still alive,they were only 5 minutes from there leased home on Upper Richmond Road West..

Nearly 400 old n new photos uploaded now!!..and I venture south..........And an incredible shot from the fifties,and far left a spire is missing from the corner building (Weimar Road)..The Church in the distance over Putney Bridge is The All Saints Church ..There has been a church based on this site in Fulham for over 900 years,and the classic horror of 1976 The Omen was filmed here where i have also done some OLD AND NEW shots..........And the church to the far right is St Marys where there has been a centre of Christian worship on this site from at least the 13th century.......The parts of the medieval church which survive today are the tower, some of the nave arcading (mid-15th century) and the Bishop West Chapel, built in the early 16th century....The Putney Regal cinema opened in 1937,it was demolished in 1972....And the Putney Palace/Odeon opened in 1907,was also demolished in 1972 a New Odeon built 1975 now stands on the site where the Costa is...The building with the dark window is a Police Station...........It was one of these cinemas where Pierce Brosnan was taken to see Goldfinger back in 1964`a future James Bond..

Heres a different take on my old n new,with a cartoon and real !!..The house in the centre is 54 Festing road where the creater David McKee lived and based Mr Benn at 52 Festive Road...Benn who appears in several children's books, and an animated television series of the same name transmitted by the BBC in the early seventies and repeated many times since...originally only 12 episodes were made then a one off `Gladiator` was made in 2005...See the next photo for a pavement slab for David McKee,note the houses almost indentical!....
The weekend of 26th/27th April 2025 saw Wembley Stadium host the FA Cup Semi-Finals, with Manchester City meeting Nottingham Forest in the second of these on the Sunday. One such vehicle pictured transporting fans to the tie was M90 RYO, a VDL FHD2-129.370 Futura 2 coach in the fleet of Mario, Ribchester, Lancashire. It was new to Maynes, Buckie, Moray as K60 GSM in May 2015, becoming SW15 YAO on sale to Evobus, Coventry (Q) in January 2019. It was acquired by Mario (then at Barrowford) in March of that year. when it was promptly given its current mark.
